{"id":362094,"date":"2025-11-07T11:49:12","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T11:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/362094\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T11:49:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T11:49:12","slug":"u-s-treasury-yields-economic-data-blackout-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/362094\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Treasury yields: economic data blackout continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Treasury yields were higher on Friday as investors continued to face an economic data blackout amid the government shutdown.<\/p>\n<p>At 5:12 a.m. ET, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/US10Y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">10-year Treasury<\/a>\u00a0yield was more than 1 basis points higher at 4.108%, while the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/US2Y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2-year note<\/a>\u00a0yield also added 1 basis point reaching 3.576%. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/US30Y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">30-year bond<\/a>\u00a0yield rose 1 basis point to 4.704%.<\/p>\n<p>One basis point equals 0.01% and yields and prices move in opposite directions.<\/p>\n<p>The nonfarm payrolls report would have been slated to be released on Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, but it is unable to do so for the second month in a row as a result of the government shutdown.<\/p>\n<p>Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been expecting the report to show a decline of 60,000 jobs and an increase in the unemployment rate to 4.5%.<\/p>\n<p>Investors are instead turning to alternative data sources including a survey from Challenger, Gray &amp; Christmas which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/11\/06\/job-cuts-in-october-hit-highest-level-for-the-month-in-22-years-challenger-says.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revealed<\/a> a sharp rise in jobs cuts in October, coming in at 153,074 in the period, triple September&#8217;s level and climbing 183% monthly.
