{"id":362990,"date":"2025-11-07T20:52:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T20:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/362990\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T20:52:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T20:52:09","slug":"the-weeknd-alex-warren-lorde-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/362990\/","title":{"rendered":"The Weeknd, Alex Warren, Lorde, More"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/weeknd\/\" id=\"auto-tag_weeknd_1\" data-tag=\"weeknd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Weeknd<\/a> made a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/music\/music-news\/the-weeknd-return-2025-grammys-boycott-performs-1236125487\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">triumphant return to the Grammys stage earlier this year<\/a> after a public feud with the Recording Academy, in which he boycotted the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/awards\/\" id=\"auto-tag_awards_1\" data-tag=\"awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">awards<\/a> organization after a 2021 snub that led to him calling the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/grammys\/\" id=\"auto-tag_grammys_1\" data-tag=\"grammys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grammys<\/a> \u201ccorrupt\u201d and urging \u201ctransparency.\u201d Introducing The Weeknd\u2019s performance, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. addressed his \u201cvocal criticism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cOver the past few years, we\u2019ve listened, we\u2019ve acted, and we\u2019ve changed,\u201d he said, pointing to Recording Academy membership changes, saying the group now \u201creflects the entire music community for now and for future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThere\u2019s still work to be done, but I firmly believe we\u2019re on the right path,\u201d he said, adding that The Weeknd has \u201cseen the work that the Academy has put in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFor all the drama, this resolution was rewarded Friday with no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/music\/music-news\/2026-grammys-nominations-list-1236420562\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nominations for the 2026 Grammys<\/a> for The Weeknd\u2019s latest release Hurry Up Tomorrow, which was competing for an album of the year nod while his Playboi Carti collab \u201cTimeless\u201d was up for record of the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAlso high on the snub list this year is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/music\/music-features\/alex-warren-album-youll-be-alright-kid-music-interview-1236314951\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex Warren.<\/a> The Atlantic-signed act did receive a nomination in the best new artist category, though his massive hit \u201cOrdinary,\u201d which spent 10 weeks atop the Hot 100 this year, failed to score a single nomination both in the general field and in the genre categories. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSpeaking of best new artist, there was a notable lack of country artists this year despite strong contenders from the likes of Ella Langley, Zach Top and Megan Moroney. Both Langley and Moroney\u2019s albums\u00a0Still Hungover\u00a0and\u00a0Am I Okay?\u00a0garnered radio success. This year, Langley was the biggest winner at the Academy of Country Music Awards while Moroney made history at the MTV Video Music Awards by winning the first-ever best country award for her song \u201cAm I Okay?\u201d Top is nominated for three Grammys \u2013 best traditional country album for\u00a0Ain\u2019t in It for My Health, best country solo performance and best country song for \u201cI Never Lie\u201d \u2014 but not for best new artist.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/lorde\/\" id=\"auto-tag_lorde_1\" data-tag=\"lorde\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lorde<\/a> made a high-profile return to music with her latest album, Virgin, released over the summer. But, despite a fervent fanbase and a major concert tour, she failed to receive any nominations for her most recent work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOther artists who were surprisingly shut out include Rene\u00e9 Rapp and Benson Boone. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/tate-mcrae\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tate-mcrae_1\" data-tag=\"tate-mcrae\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tate McRae<\/a>, despite her intense promotion of her 2025 album So Close to What and expert predictions that she might snag a record of the year spot for \u201cSports Car,\u201d only scored one nod, in best dance pop recording for \u201cJust Keep Watching\u201d from the movie F1. That same category also features a surprise solo nominee: newly married couple Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, who are nominated for \u201cBluest Flame\u201d from their joint album. And after winning her first Grammys, including for record of the year, with her last album, Miley Cyrus\u2019 Something Beautiful only landed one nod, for best pop vocal album. Even the Something Beautiful visual companion wasn\u2019t recognized.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tGracie Abrams landed two Grammy nominations in the past, including one for best new artist, but she surprisingly missed out on song and record of the year nods for \u201cThat\u2019s So True.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAnother Grammy favorite, Ariana Grande, didn\u2019t have an entirely new album eligible this year, but she was eligible for the new songs off of the deluxe versions of her early 2024 release Eternal Sunshine, but none of these additional tracks scored nods. Grande, however, was nominated in the best pop duo\/group performance with her Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo for \u201cDefying Gravity\u201d from the movie version of the Broadway musical.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWicked, the second part of which titled Wicked: For Good comes out later this month, wasn\u2019t the only movie to see one of its songs land nominations outside of the visual media categories where film and TV songs and soundtracks are usually confined. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/music\/music-news\/huntrix-ejae-audrey-nuna-rei-ami-2026-grammy-nominations-1236421139\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/kpop-demon-hunters\/\" id=\"auto-tag_kpop-demon-hunters_1\" data-tag=\"kpop-demon-hunters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KPop Demon Hunters<\/a> had a strong showing<\/a> with this year\u2019s Grammy nominations, with its \u201cGolden\u201d landing a big four nod for song of the year and a spot alongside \u201cDefying Gravity\u201d in the pop duo\/group performance category.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAnother Hollywood surprise among this year\u2019s nods was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/music\/film-tv-music-news\/timothee-chalamet-could-win-a-grammy-before-an-oscar-1236420613\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet scoring a nomination<\/a> for best compilation soundtrack for visual media for his performance in A Complete Unknown. He\u2019s got stiff competition with KPop Demon Hunters, Sinners, Wicked and F1, but the nomination still gives him a shot at a Grammy before an Oscar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tTyler, The Creator\u2019s\u00a0Don\u2019t Tap the Glass\u00a0scored a surprise nod in the alternative category alongside more rock-leaning acts like Wet Leg and The Cure. Nearly six years ago, after Tyler won his first-ever Grammy with\u00a0Igor\u00a0for best rap album, the artist had called winning in the rap category a \u201cbackhanded compliment\u201d as he felt the album was more akin to pop. Years later, Tyler\u2019s now getting his flowers in other genres, too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAnother Grammys surprise included the strong performance for hardcore band Turnstile, who have been building momentum recently with their acclaimed latest album Never Enough and propulsive live shows.
