If you dropped way too much money on your Halloween costume as Amy Madigan<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s Aunt Gladys from Weapons<\/strong><\/a>, fear not \u2014 just hold onto it for a few more years. According to a recent report<\/a>, Weapons helmer Zach Cregger<\/strong><\/a> is already working on the highly requested prequel film<\/strong><\/a> that would follow Madigan\u2019s witch in the days and perhaps even months or years leading up to her appearance in Maybrook, Pennsylvania. While nothing has officially been brought to the actress, who has had plenty of Oscar buzz surrounding her performance as the movie\u2019s kooky and eccentric witch, she remains eager to return to the spooky universe, sharing, \u201cI\u2019d love to live inside Zach\u2019s brain again, but we\u2019ll see if that happens.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following a staggering opening weekend at the box office<\/strong><\/a> in early August, Weapons was the movie on the tip of everyone\u2019s tongues. Whether you were picking apart the various themes and points that Cregger was trying to make, keeping an eye out for any odes to his late best friend and former Whitest Kids U\u2019Know<\/strong> star, Trevor Moore<\/strong>, attempting to tie the universe into his previous film, Barbarian<\/strong><\/a>, or just gushing over the bonkersness that was Madigan\u2019s Aunt Gladys, you\u2019d be hard-pressed to have been a cinema fan without plenty to talk about follow the film\u2019s August 8 release.<\/p>\n

It was clear from the jump that fans wanted more of Aunt Gladys<\/strong><\/a>. Where did she come from? Has she always been a witch<\/strong><\/a>? Was she actually related to Alex\u2019s (Cary Christopher<\/strong>) family? These were all things that might have been established and explained in Gladys\u2019 chapter in the film, but were cut due to the production’s sheer length and the story’s already large cast of characters. But, with money being made left and right, Warner Bros. quickly gave Cregger the go-ahead to begin writing the Gladys-centered prequel, which we can\u2019t wait to hear more about.<\/p>\n

What To Do While You\u2019re Waiting For Zach Cregger\u2019s Next Project<\/p>\n

The good news here is that, although the Aunt Gladys prequel might be a bit of a wait, there\u2019s another Cregger-helmed movie already on the way. Re-teaming with Weapons standout star Austin Abrams<\/strong>, and other cast members including Paul Walter Hauser<\/strong>, Kali Reis,<\/strong> and Zach Cherry<\/strong>, Cregger is hard at work developing a new take on the Resident Evil<\/strong><\/a> franchise, which will rise from the dead on September 18, 2026. Meanwhile, if you haven\u2019t yet checked out his 2022 horror breakthrough, Barbarian<\/strong><\/a>, the chilling and thrilling movie is \u2014 as of this writing \u2014 now streaming on Hulu.<\/p>\n
