Tens of thousands of residents were left without electricity on Saturday as a major power outage swept across Los Angeles, affecting neighbourhoods from Santa Monica to Downtown, officials said. <\/p>\n

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) confirmed that the outage disrupted power to homes and businesses across the city. <\/p>\n

According to LADWP’s outage map, reports peaked around 4:15 pm ET, with more than 100,818 customers left without power across its service area. <\/p>\n

Los Angeles County recorded the highest number of outages, with about 6.3% of customers affected. LADWP currently ranks first nationwide for the total number of power outages and second for the percentage of customers impacted among all utilities. <\/p>\n

Frustrated residents took to social media to share their experiences and concerns. <\/p>\n

One user wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “What is going on in Los Angeles right now??!! Huge power outage.” Another added: “Thought it was my building only going through a power outage and come to find out it was a whole chunk of Los Angeles.” <\/p>\n

Others reported widespread blackouts in multiple areas. “Huge LA power outage\u2026 like huge. So far Beverlywood, Cheviot Hills, Century City confirmed out,” one user said. Another wrote: “Seems like the power outage is huge here in L.A. South L.A., Ktown, all the way west to at least the 405 are out.” <\/p>\n
