President Trump (James Austin Johnson) used a man\u2019s collapse in the Oval Office as an excuse to monologue about Zohran Mamdani\u2019s election in New York City and the government shutdown in tonight\u2019s \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d<\/a> cold open.<\/p>\n

Mikey Day\u2019s Eli Lilly head opened the segment flanked by Dr. Oz (Marcello Hernandez) and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (Andrew Dismukes). In a nod to one of this week\u2019s strangest real-life moments, his press conference about lowering the costs of weight loss drugs was cut short when one of the event\u2019s attendees (Jeremy Culhane) collapsed to the floor.<\/p>\n

\u201cSNL\u201d then panned its camera to Johnson\u2019s Trump, who turned to directly address the audience. \u201cOh, hi! Didn\u2019t see you there. Someone was dying in my office,\u201d the president joked. \u201cI think I\u2019m playing this very normal. Just stand there and stare like a sociopath. I didn\u2019t even pretend like I was gonna help, like when someone drops something and you do the fake bend, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnson\u2019s Trump then walked around his desk, stepping over Culhane\u2019s unconscious observer along the way, to continue his address. \u201cEach week, I like to create a big visual that sort of sums up how things are going,\u201d the president explained. \u201cLast week, it was the demolishing of the East Wing<\/a>. This week, it\u2019s a medical professional almost dying in my Oval Office at the mere thought of charging less for drugs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnson\u2019s Trump eventually touched on Mamdani\u2019s recent mayoral win, remarking, \u201cI can\u2019t believe they elected Mamdani.\u201d He subsequently confessed, \u201cYou know, I\u2019m torn because I like a winner, but I\u2019m not crazy about a Muslim. Maybe he\u2019ll convert, right? We\u2019ll put him in line behind Irsha [sic] Vance, and I hope I\u2019m pronouncing that wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur side had some wins this week, too,\u201d Johnson\u2019s Trump argued. \u201cThe Supreme Court said we could stop feeding poor people. You can clap for that. SNAP! Snap! For those of you who can afford food \u2014 actually, no, you can\u2019t. I promised grocery prices would plummet, and they did. They plummeted straight up!\u201d <\/p>\n

The president then shifted his attention to the ongoing government shutdown. \u201cThe government is still shut down, all thanks to the Democrats and some Republicans and all Republicans and me,\u201d he noted, before offering viewers some words of\u2026 encouragement? <\/p>\n

\u201cFor anyone worried about the state of the country, I\u2019ll say the same thing I said to Melania when she tried to help me do my hair,\u201d Johnson\u2019s Trump said. \u201c\u2018Go away. What I\u2019m doing is very complicated, and only I know how to do it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
