{"id":366599,"date":"2025-11-09T09:58:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-09T09:58:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/366599\/"},"modified":"2025-11-09T09:58:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-09T09:58:11","slug":"faa-reductions-in-air-traffic-enter-second-day-as-us-flights-delayed-and-canceled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/366599\/","title":{"rendered":"FAA reductions in air traffic enter second day as US flights delayed and canceled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\nSenate Dems clash over why Sec Duffy is reducing flights and air traffic ahead of Thanksgiving<\/p>\n<p>\u200b<\/p>\n<p>Democratic senators on Capitol Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/senate-dems-clash-over-why-duffy-reducing-flights-air-traffic-ahead-thanksgiving\" target=\"_blank\" data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_live-news_article_main-content_video_senate-dems-clash-over-why-sec-duffy-is-reducing-flights-and-air-traffic-ahead-of-thanksgiving_8_article-link_1\" rel=\"noopener\">offered differing responses<\/a><br \/>\n as to why they believe Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy made the call to reduce flights and air traffic ahead of the busy Thanksgiving travel surge.<\/p>\n<p>After news broke that Duffy was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/live-news\/faa-cuts-to-air-traffic-begins-friday-as-government-shutdown-continues\" target=\"_blank\" data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_live-news_article_main-content_video_senate-dems-clash-over-why-sec-duffy-is-reducing-flights-and-air-traffic-ahead-of-thanksgiving_8_article-link_2\" rel=\"noopener\">ordering a 10% reduction<\/a> in flight capacity at 40 airports across the country, Republicans remained largely unified in their messaging that any chaos caused by the forced reductions fell at the feet of Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>\nWhite House\u00a0Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said short of &#8220;planes falling out of the sky,&#8221; Democrats will not vote to reopen the government. &#8220;Democrats are flirting with disaster,&#8221; Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, wrote on X in response to Wednesday\u2019s announcement, adding that there was no choice but to reduce air traffic to keep it safe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., appeared to agree in comments he made to reporters on\u00a0Capitol Hill\u00a0Thursday about the move, telling them &#8220;we&#8217;ve got to make sure that flights are safe.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t question Secretary Duffy,&#8221; Kaine added. &#8220;He wants to make sure that flights are safe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Sen.
