Photographer: Mel Musto\/Bloomberg via Getty Images)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\"><strong>NEW YORK<\/strong> &#8211; After weeks of uncertainty, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/09\/us-news\/hochul-orders-ny-to-pay-snap-benefits-and-deposits-could-come-as-early-as-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Governor Kathy Hochul<\/a> announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/otda.ny.gov\/programs\/snap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program<\/a> (SNAP) benefits could be deposited into New Yorkers\u2019 accounts starting today, bringing relief to millions of people affected by the federal government shutdown.<\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WNYW\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">What we know:<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">Hochul said New York has authorized the state\u2019s Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) to release full November SNAP payments to eligible households using state resources to bridge the funding gap.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">The announcement follows a federal court decision that found the Trump administration\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/10\/16\/nx-s1-5533045\/snap-privacy-usda-lawsuit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">withholding of SNAP benefits unlawful<\/a>. While the U.S. Department of Agriculture works to determine how and when federal funds will resume, New York has stepped in to ensure that families don\u2019t go hungry in the meantime.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">&#8220;While Donald Trump has fought relentlessly to keep food off New Yorkers\u2019 tables, families who rely on SNAP can finally breathe a sigh of relief as benefits begin to arrive,&#8221; Hochul said in a post on X. &#8220;I\u2019ll never stop fighting for New Yorkers or holding Republicans in Washington accountable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/09\/us-news\/hochul-orders-ny-to-pay-snap-benefits-and-deposits-could-come-as-early-as-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the New York Post<\/a>, deposits could begin hitting EBT cards as early as Sunday, with remaining payments expected to post throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WNYW\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">Big picture view:<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/otda.ny.gov\/snap-benefits-shutdown.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OTDA website confirmed<\/a> that SNAP recipients do not need to take any action to receive their November benefits.
