Rep. Derrick Van Orden cheered on Trump’s \u201cBig Beautiful Bill\u201d that will kick millions off Medicaid<\/p>\n
\n\tAs millions of low-income and disabled Americans are at risk of losing their health insurance thanks to the passing<\/a> of Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0and the GOP\u2019s so-called \u201cBig Beautiful Bill<\/a>,\u201d Rep. Derrick Van Orden<\/a> (R-Wisc.) joined Republicans in celebrating one of the most destructive pieces of legislation in U.S. history.<\/p>\n \n\tVan Orden shared<\/a> a post from an X account named Logical Luminary that claimed: \u201c17 million people just lost health care. 18 million kids just lost school meals. 3 million Americans just lost food assistance. And $3.5 trillion was added to the deficit. All for a tax cut for Trump\u2019s billionaire donors.\u201d In response, Van Orden wrote in his since-deleted post: \u201cYES!\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tHe later said that his remark \u201cwas supposed to be a response to a different text,\u201d and added, \u201cAnd, all of that is BS.\u201d Van Orden said that he had meant to respond to White House Press Secretary Karoline Levitt\u2019s \u201cVICTORY!\u201d post<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n\tOn July 3, Trump\u2019s \u00a0<\/strong>massive legislative package passed through the House of Representatives in a 218-214 vote, two days after the Senate\u00a0passed it<\/a>. The bill will now head to the White House, where Trump is expected to sign it into law during a Fourth of July ceremony.<\/p>\n \n\tThe legislation will make it harder for Americans in need to gain access to Medicaid coverage, requiring all supposedly able-bodied adults under the age of 65 to either volunteer or work 20 hours a week in low-wage jobs to maintain their insurance. The Medicaid provisions are expected to force\u00a0over 10 million Americans<\/a>\u00a0off the program that has been a lifeline for millions. <\/p>\n
