\n\tAs James Gunn<\/a>\u2019s highly anticipated \u201cSuperman<\/a>\u201c soars into theaters this month<\/a>, fans can journey into the DC Universe with a new book about the making of the film.<\/p>\n

\n\tPenned by veteran film author James Field, \u201cSuperman: The Art and Making of the Film\u201d delivers an immersive behind-the-scenes experience to complement Gunn\u2019s cinematic vision, including an introduction by Gunn himself. The lush 176-page hardcover officially releases on Nov. 18 and is currently available to pre-order on Amazon, <\/a>where it\u2019s already a No. 1 bestseller. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe volume boasts hundreds of vivid concept sketches, set design layouts and unit photography showing Superman\u2019s Metropolis skyline, the crystalline grandeur of the Fortress of Solitude and the Daily Planet newsroom. Field\u2019s narrative spans every stage of development \u2014 from Gunn\u2019s early consultations with DC Studios co-chair Peter Safran, to the narrative arcs influenced by iconic comics like \u201cAll\u2011Star Superman\u201d and production hurdles. Plus, an introduction by Gunn and a foreword by star David Corenswet features insights from costume designers, visual effects supervisors and set architects woven together through Field\u2019s engaging prose.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe newest movie in the DC tentpole marks the first solo \u201cSuperman\u201d film in over a decade, since Zack Snyder\u2019s 2013 \u201cMan of Steel,\u201d which went on to gross $670 million at the worldwide box office. David Corenswet stars in the titular role opposite Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult plays the film\u2019s villain, megalomaniac super-genius Lex Luthor. Other members of the cast include Skyler Gisondo as journalist Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as the Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.<\/p>\n
