SAN DIEGO \u2014 <\/strong>Triton women’s rowing had eight boats on the water Sunday at the San Diego Fall Classic, the team’s lone event of the fall. About UC San Diego Athletics<\/strong>

\nThe Tritons had three boats in the women’s open 8+ event, one boat in the women’s open frosh 8+ event and four boats in the women’s open 4+ event. Both open races had at least 20 entries. The frosh race had eight boats, with the Tritons finishing second.

\nThe head races saw teams set out on the long-distance course individually in a time-trial format. They were then ranked based on their final times. The Mission Bay course began near the South Shores Boat Ramp before continuing around Vacation Isle and finishing in front of Crown Point Park.

\nRESULTS<\/strong>
\nStanford’s second varsity boat won the open 8+ race with a time of 15:05.575. The Tritons’ top two varsity boats finished within two seconds of each other, with second varsity placing 11th with a time of 16:58.448. First varsity was 12th with a time of 16:59.691. Third varsity’s time of 18:17.185 placed that boat 16th.

\nThe frosh race was topped by UCLA with a time of 16:44.250. The Tritons were second in 18:03.673, beating boats from six different universities.

\nStanford also won the open 4+ race, with the Cardinal’s varsity four boat finishing in 17:39.075. The Tritons’ top two boats were once again next to each other in the final standings. Varsity four was 13th with a time of 20:25.775, and second varsity was 14th with a time of 20:50.405. The Tritons’ also saw fourth varsity finish 18th (21:46.634) and third varsity finish 22nd (22:20.085).

\nTriton women’s rowing will be back in action again next spring. The 2026 season will see UC San Diego compete in the Coastal Athletic Association. The spring schedule will be announced at a later date.<\/p>\n
\nAfter two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC\u00a0San Diego intercollegiate athletics program has begun a new era as a member of The\u00a0Big West in\u00a0NCAA Division I. The 24-sport Tritons earned 30 team and nearly 150\u00a0individual national championships during its time in Divisions II and III and helped\u00a0guide 1,400 scholar-athletes to All-America honors. A total of 83 Tritons have earned\u00a0Academic All-America honors, while 39 have garnered prestigious NCAA Post Graduate\u00a0Scholarships. UC San Diego scholar-athletes exemplify the academic ideals of one of\u00a0the world’s preeminent institutions, graduating at an average rate of 90 percent, the\u00a0highest rate among\u00a0public institutions in NCAA Division I or II.
