{"id":368084,"date":"2025-11-10T01:10:13","date_gmt":"2025-11-10T01:10:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/368084\/"},"modified":"2025-11-10T01:10:13","modified_gmt":"2025-11-10T01:10:13","slug":"cyndia-lauper-outkast-white-stripes-inducted-into-rock-hall-of-fame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/368084\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyndia Lauper, Outkast, White Stripes Inducted Into Rock Hall of Fame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBad Company, Chubby Checker, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/cyndi-lauper\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cyndi-lauper_1\" data-tag=\"cyndi-lauper\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cyndi Lauper<\/a>, Joe Cocker, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/outkast\/\" id=\"auto-tag_outkast_1\" data-tag=\"outkast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Outkast<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/salt-n-pepa\/\" id=\"auto-tag_salt-n-pepa_1\" data-tag=\"salt-n-pepa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Salt-N-Pepa<\/a>, Soundgarden, The White Stripes, Warren Zevon and several other musical acts have officially been inducted into the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe 2025 class was celebrated at the 40th annual Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles Saturday night. The star-studded event brought musical talents spanning several generations to celebrate the inductees. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe evening kicked off with a tribute to the late Sly Stone featuring Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Questlove, Leon Thomas, Beck, Maxwell and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Later in the evening, Elton John led a tribute to the late Beach Boys member Brian Wilson, and the ceremony showed a video tribute to Ozzy Osbourne. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBad Company, Chubby Checker, Cyndi Lauper, Joe Cocker, Outkast, Soundgarden and The White Stripes made up the performer category of inductees for the night, while Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon were honored with the musical influence award. With the exception of Checker, who was inducted through a video tribute from a live show, all artists had a dedicated performance section filled with the top musical artists of today and years past.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tCaroly Kaye, Nicky Hopkins and Thom Bell were honored with the musical excellence award. Producer and longtime Warner Records Lenny Waronker was the evening\u2019s Ahmet Ertegun award recipient. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tJack White took the stage to accept the honor on behalf of the iconic rock duo, The White Stripes. Meg White, who has kept out of the spotlight since the group\u2019s last performance in 2009, was not in attendance but Jack White passed along the drummer\u2019s love and gratitude to the audience. \u201cShe helped me write all of this,\u201d he told the crowd of his bandmate. \u201cI sent these things to her and she checked it for me \u2014 a lot of punctuation corrections too. She\u2019s really good at them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhite did not participate in the group\u2019s tribute performance. Olivia Rodrigo and Feist performed the duo\u2019s song, \u201cWe\u2019re Going to Be Friends.\u201d Meanwhile, rock duo Twenty One Pilots covered the group\u2019s iconic track, \u201cSeven Nation Army.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOutkast, comprising members Andr\u00e9 3000 and Big Boi, were inducted by Donald Glover and brought nearly all of their collaborators and confidants in attendance on stage to celebrate the honor. Andr\u00e9 3000 got emotional at one point when recounting what fellow honoree White said about \u201clittle rooms,\u201d the artist fighting back tears. \u201cGreat things start in little rooms. We started in a little room,\u201d he said in a nod back to the group\u2019s early days in the \u201cDungeon,\u201d where the duo got its start.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Atlanta hip hop duo also attracted an all-star group of musicians to the stage to perform their tribute. Big Boi (Andr\u00e9 3000 did not take part in the performance) was joined by Doja Cat, Tyler, the Creator, Janelle Mon\u00e1e, J.I.D, Killer Mike and Sleepy Brown to perform the group\u2019s biggest hits, including \u201cMs. Jackson,\u201d \u201cHey Ya,\u201d \u201cB.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad)\u201d and more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tJim Carrey inducted Soundgarden, bringing out the late Chris Cornell\u2019s eldest daughter, Lily Cornell Silver, to speak about her father and introduce a performance by his former Soundgarden bandmates, including original member Hiro Yamamoto, with Taylor Momsen and Brandi Carlisle singing vocals. Cornell\u2019s youngest daughter, Toni Cornell, also performed a rendition of \u201cFell on Black Days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tYamamoto, a founding member of the group alongside Cornell and Kim Thayil before he departed in 1989, didn\u2019t shy away from bringing up the current state of the world. \u201cThanks to my parents, whose story is [of] American citizens who were rounded up and placed into prison camps just for being Japanese during World War II,\u201d he told the crowd. \u201cThat affected my life greatly, and it really echoes strongly today. Let\u2019s not add another story like this to our history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn perhaps the most fitting pairing of the night, Chappell Roan inducted Lauper into the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame, taking the stage in an extravagant outfit fitting for a Lauper tribute. The \u201cPink Pony Club\u201d singer got some of the biggest laughs of the night when she admitted she wasn\u2019t wearing contacts and clearly couldn\u2019t see the Teleprompter well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tRoan didn\u2019t participate in the musical tribute; however, Lauper came out to perform her hit, \u201cTrue Colors,\u201d which became an anthem in the LGBTQ community \u2014 the inductee even displayed an inclusive pride flag, stopping the song to highlight the message. Lauper was later joined by British singer Raye to sing her classic, \u201cTime After Time,\u201d and pop-rocker Avril Lavigne and fellow inductee Salt-N-Peppa for \u201cGirls Just Wanna Have Fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn her speech, Lauper noted the contributions of the women who came before her that made it possible to be the musician she is today. \u201cMy shoulders are broad enough to have the women who come after me stand on mine,\u201d she continued, at one point looking to a nearby Roan, who looked emotional.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThe other thing that I thought was really important, which is why I really came here tonight, is to tell you that the little kid in me still believe that rock and roll can save the world,\u201d Lauper told the crowd, met with applause. \u201cI just want to say, now, of all times, let\u2019s come together again and do good in the world because it needs us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDavid Letterman and Missy Elliot made appearances, inducting Zevon, Soundgarden and Salt-N-Pepa, respectively. Letterman even brought out the guitar that Zevon gave to him before he passed to be used during the tribute performance. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFollowing an energetic performance of some of the hip hop trio\u2019s greatest hits, Cheryl James, known by her stage name Salt, told the crowd that the women were currently in a battle for ownership of their music. \u201cWhen we came up, the industry was different. We didn\u2019t have streaming, we didn\u2019t have social media; we had cassette tapes, turntables and dreams. We had to fight to be heard and to prove our worth,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re in a fight right now for our masters that rightfully belong to us. As we celebrate this moment, fans can\u2019t even stream our music.
