Lefties loved the Anti-Defamation League<\/a> as long as it focused on supporting trans rights, fighting Islamophobia and advocating for \u201cundocumented\u201d immigrants, but the minute it returned to its original purpose \u2014 combatting antisemitism \u2014 it became their new enemy No. 1.<\/p>\n

After Zohran Mamdani\u2019s big win Tuesday, the ADL announced it\u2019s starting a \u201cMamdani Monitor<\/a>\u201d to hold the mayor-elect and his administration \u201caccountable,\u201d given his \u201clong, disturbing record\u201d on issues of concern to Jewish New Yorkers.<\/p>\n

Progressives exploded with outrage.<\/p>\n

The Council on American-Islamic Relations <\/a>called the \u201cspecial monitor\u201d a \u201chypocritical act of anti-Muslim bigotry . . . unhinged, desperate,\u201d and that it was uniquely established to \u201charass\u201d Mamdani.<\/p>\n

Ha! CAIR runs its own \u201cMonitoring and Combating Islamophobia\u201d project, with files on dozens of supposedly Muslim-hating organizations, politicians, journalists and advocates \u2014 including the late Charlie Kirk.<\/p>\n

Top local progressive honcho and Mamdani adviser Patrick Gaspard posted on X, \u201cThis is gross . . . Just gross.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others just called the ADL \u201cfascist.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other words, the ADL never won a bit of lasting love for abandoning its mission to curry favor with the social-justice warriors. <\/p>\n

In October, as the FBI broke its long ties to the ADL<\/a>, bureau chief Kash Patel called it a \u201cpolitical front masquerading as a watchdog\u201d \u2014 perhaps thinking of how the ADL (like CAIR) included the extremely pro-Israel Charlie Kirk in its database on extremism.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s good to see the ADL returning to its actual purpose: It\u2019s certainly right about the need to keep a close eye on the Mamdani administration.<\/p>\n
