The junior was one of four Horned Frogs who shot 50 percent or better and had at least three made buckets.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Frogs converted 58 percent of their field goal attempts (35-60) and drilled 10 three-pointers. Eight TCU players finished with at least five points.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nMiles and Hunter accounted for 15 of TCU&#8217;s 25 assists \u2013 tied for the fifth most in a game under head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/gofrogs.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/coaches\/mark-campbell\/1330\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"1330\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Campbell<\/a>.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTCU extended its home winning streak to 26 games and won its 24th\u00a0consecutive nonconference game at home with the result.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Horned Frogs&#8217; offensive attacking prowess and length proved to be too much for the Bearkats (1-1) to handle.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTCU blew the game open with a 14-0 run over the first 4:43 of the contest. From there, the Horned Frogs never led by fewer than double digits and maintained a 20-plus point advantage for all but 40 seconds of the second half. TCU took a 44-24 edge into the locker room and outscored Sam Houston 24-9 in the fourth quarter to inflate the final margin of victory.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe only negative on the final box score for TCU were the giveaways. The Horned Frogs finished with 20 turnovers, including nine in the first quarter, that led to 14 points for the Bearkats.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/gofrogs.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/clara-silva\/17507\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"17507\" target=\"_blank\">Clara Silva<\/a> peppered six of her nine points across TCU&#8217;s prolonged scoring run to open the ballgame. The 6-7 center came one point and one rebound shy of recording her first career double-double, as she padded her stat line with a game-high nine rebounds and two blocks.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/gofrogs.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/maddie-scherr\/17500\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"17500\" target=\"_blank\">Maddie Scherr<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gofrogs.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/kennedy-basham\/17508\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"17508\" target=\"_blank\">Kennedy Basham<\/a> added eight points apiece.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nScherr, who was sidelined for the entire 2024-25 season with a back injury, sunk a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter for her first points as a Horned Frog.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTCU further separated from Sam Houston with a 10-0 run midway through the third quarter that stretched its lead to 60-31. The sparkplug this time around was <a href=\"https:\/\/gofrogs.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/marta-suarez\/17509\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"17509\" target=\"_blank\">Marta Suarez<\/a>, who scored her 1,000th\u00a0career point off a second chance layup that ignited the run.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Horned Frogs continued to pour it on late even as their starters rested for the bulk of the period. Eleven players checked in for TCU during the final frame. The Frogs went 10-14 (71 percent) from the field.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTCU racked up 50 points in the paint and outrebounded the Bearkats 47-30.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSam Houston was led by 13 points from Fanta Kone.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Up Next<\/strong><br \/>\nTCU caps its season-opening three-game homestand on Wednesday when it hosts Tennessee State. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN+.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Team Notes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type:circle;\">&#13;<\/p>\n<li>TCU had two players score 20-plus for the 17th\u00a0time over the last three seasons. The Horned Frogs have yet to lose under Campbell when they have two 20-point scorers.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>TCU scored 80-plus for the 29th\u00a0time since 2023. The Frogs have now scored at least 80 points at home in 13 of their 22 home nonconference victories under Campbell.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>The Horned Frogs reached double digits in 3-pointers for the 35th time in the Campbell era on Sunday.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>TCU scored 86 of its 88 points via paint touches, 3-pointers or free throws.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>The Horned Frogs finished with at least 20 assists and 10 three-pointers for the 21st\u00a0time over the last two-plus seasons.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>In In nonconference play, the Horned Frogs have finished with 20-plus assists in 18-of-28<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>games (64 percent) in the Campbell era.<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>The Horned Frogs held Sam to 28 percent shooting (19-66).
