Mitchell Robinson achieved another statistical anomaly.<\/p>\n

After accumulating a ridiculous nine offensive rebounds in just 16 minutes of the previous game, the starting center finished plus-40 over just 17 minutes in Sunday\u2019s 134-98 breeze over the Nets<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Even Robinson was impressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou said plus-40 in [17] minutes?\u201d Robinson said. \u201cDamn.\u201d<\/p>\n

Robinson\u2019s stat line also included two blocks, two steals, eight rebounds (three offensive) and eight points on 4-of-4 shooting. <\/p>\n

He\u2019s been a one-man wrecking crew in the past two games.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust going out there and doing what I\u2019m supposed to do. Going out there and playing hard,\u201d Robinson said. \u201cIt feels great. I didn\u2019t even know that. I\u2019m embracing it and continuing to get better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Robinson also was honored as the Knicks defensive player of the game by the coaching staff. <\/p>\n

He helped hold the Nets to 40 percent shooting.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t really fall into the plus-minus stuff a ton, but it\u2019s another amazing stat,\u201d coach Mike Brown said. \u201cHe keeps throwing up these stats that are amazing. I think he played 16.5 minutes, and he was plus-40. To impact the game that way \u2014 again, not a huge believer in it \u2014 but to see a number like that in the short amount of time he was playing, was just amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Approaching three weeks into the regular season, Brown still hasn\u2019t installed a lot of plays.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s by design.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot a ton. We still like to play out of concepts, read and react,\u201d the coach said. \u201cI think our guys are getting a little more comfortable with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

In preseason, Brown said he wanted to build the foundation of his style \u2014 pace, ball movement, instinctual offense \u2014 before introducing a playbook.<\/p>\n

A combination of time, injuries and preference have kept Brown from taking that step.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s mainly by design because I think at the end of the day, it would be great if they can just play without play calls because then it\u2019s harder for the defense,\u201d Brown said.<\/p>\n

Opening Night starter Ariel Hukporti remains out of the rotation, and Brown said he wasn\u2019t sure if he\u2019ll be back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know. I can probably play 10 guys, and right now, he\u2019s not in the top 10, so he\u2019s just gotta keep himself ready,\u201d Brown said, \u201cand when his number\u2019s called, he\u2019s just gotta go out there and he\u2019s gotta play hard on both ends of the floor for his minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hukporti, a second-year center from Germany, started twice this season in place of Robinson, who was managing an injury. <\/p>\n
