That means workout staples like squats, deadlifts and chest presses all fall into this category.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"e88cbe57-b6dc-4fdd-972f-442295a0dcf0-2\">Because these moves fire up lots of muscles, they\u2019re high-effort, more functional and help you burn more calories. I think it\u2019s very underappreciated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-how-to-do-a-plank-row\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>How to do a plank row<\/p>\n<p id=\"299f4588-1bee-4a99-abef-439dfc015bc6\"><strong>Sets: <\/strong>3 <strong>Reps: <\/strong>4-6 each side<\/p>\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">Start your week with achievable workout ideas, health tips and wellbeing advice in your inbox.<\/p>\n<ul id=\"25b075d0-a25b-4fdd-b851-b1dc6aae74b2\">\n<li>Start on your hands and knees with a pair of moderately heavy hexagonal dumbbells on the floor underneath your shoulders.<\/li>\n<li>Hold the dumbbells and step your legs back into a high-plank position, so your body is in a straight line from your head to your heels.<\/li>\n<li>Keeping your body stable, lift one dumbbell to your rib cage.<\/li>\n<li>Pause briefly, then lower with control.<\/li>\n<li>Repeat on the other side.<\/li>\n<li>Continue, alternating sides with each rep.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a id=\"elk-form-tips\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>Form tips<\/p>\n<p id=\"84f07aee-0e20-4791-b586-216fca1eb656\">Avoid rocking your hips from side to side when you row each dumbbell.
