{"id":369731,"date":"2025-11-10T18:19:23","date_gmt":"2025-11-10T18:19:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/369731\/"},"modified":"2025-11-10T18:19:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-10T18:19:23","slug":"most-of-refused-launches-new-death-jazz-project-backengrillen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/369731\/","title":{"rendered":"Most Of REFUSED Launches New Death Jazz Project BACKENGRILLEN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Refused<\/strong> might be fuckin&#8217; dead, but <strong>Backengrillen<\/strong> isn&#8217;t. <strong>Backengrillen<\/strong> is a new &#8220;death jazz&#8221; project featuring <strong>Refused<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Dennis Lyxz\u00e9n<\/strong> on vocal and effects, <strong>Magnus Flagge<\/strong> on bass, and <strong>David Sandstr\u00f6m<\/strong> on drums and electronics alongside <strong>Mats Gustafsson<\/strong> on saxophones, flutes and live electronics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Backengrillen<\/strong> is set to release their self-titled debut album on January 23, 2026 via Svart Records, and you can check out the hypnotic first single &#8220;A Hate Inferior&#8221; (which I&#8217;m guessing is a riff on <strong>John Coltrane<\/strong>&#8216;s A Love Supreme) below. <a href=\"https:\/\/backengrillen.bandcamp.com\/album\/backengrillen-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pre-orders are available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>Backengrillen<\/strong>s music is a paean to chaos and destruction,&#8221; wrote <strong>Backengrillen<\/strong>. &#8220;The basic idea is to take a death\/doom metal, or noiserock riff and play it until it loses meaning and then break it apart like a ravenous cat would a tiny forest mouse.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s filled to the brim with the self-hatred endemic to the province of V\u00e4sterbotten from whence the member\u2019s hail. The record was written on a Thursday during their first ever rehearsal, performed live on a Friday and recorded on a Saturday, so what you&#8217;re hearing is raw, stupid, gut instinct music played by seasoned purveyors of hardcore punk, metal, free jazz, noise et cetera.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Record no 2 is in the making, less stupid, more ugly.
