Vladimir Putin\u2019s shriveled hand at a public event in Russia has prompted a fresh wave of speculation about the dictator\u2019s health.<\/p>\n

Footage of the Russian president captured at a conference last week shows the 73-year-old despot\u2019s right hand looking sickly and visibly withered, covered in bulging veins and thin, wrinkled skin.<\/p>\n

As he stood motionless next to a basketball hoop, Putin\u2019s hands were seen clenched tightly by his side, which commentators said looked extremely painful.<\/p>\n

\u201cSocial media users are puzzled by what happened to the hands of the Russian dictator\u2014they look extremely painful,\u201d said pro-Ukrainian news outlet Nexta<\/a>, which disseminated the video across social media. <\/p>\n

Anton Gerashchenko, a former adviser to the Ukrainian interior ministry, echoed the sentiment on his X account, simply asking: \u201cWhat\u2019s with Putin\u2019s hands in this video?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s something wrong with Putin\u2019s hands,\u201d he added. \u201cApart from the fact that they\u2019re covered in blood up to the elbows, his veins are bulging too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPutin clenches his hands into something resembling fists, Ukrainian journalist Dmytro Gordon told the Mirror. \u201cThey look swollen and sore, with veins bulging prominently on one hand.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOn social media, people are wondering what happened to Putin\u2019s monster hands. Or at least to one of the Putins,\u201d social media user J\u00fcrgen Nauditt posted on X, while another added, \u201cPutin, apart from being mentally sick, might also be physically sick. His hands are bloated with the veins very swollen.\u201d <\/p>\n

The scrutiny surrounding Putin\u2019s hands is similar to speculation around President Donald Trump\u2019s hands, which are regularly seen with bruises on them.<\/p>\n

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has said Trump\u2019s bruised hand was consistent with \u201ctissue damage from frequent handshaking\u201d while taking aspirin, which she said is \u201cpart of a standard cardio-vascular prevention regimen.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said he has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, which occurs when leg veins fail to pump blood to the heart, causing it to pool in the lower limbs, which can then become swollen.<\/p>\n

Putin has long been subjected to intense speculation about his health, following persistent rumors that he is suffering from a mystery disease and may be close to death.<\/p>\n

Back in September, he was overheard talking to Chinese Premier Xi Jinping about harvesting human organs<\/a> in order to live forever.<\/p>\n

\u201cHuman organs can be continuously transplanted. The longer you live, the younger you become,\u201d Putin told Xi during a conference in Beijing back in September.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople used to rarely live to 70, but now at 70 you are still a child,\u201d he added, claiming that innovations may allow them to live as long as 150. <\/p>\n

Geraschenko previously drew attention to Putin\u2019s hand back in November 2024, when he said a video showed them \u201cnot moving and look like they are separate from his body.\u201d<\/p>\n
