Crosstown Showdown<\/strong>

\nRice will head out for a short trip to the University of Houston Tuesday night for a H-Town showdown. The Owls will have their home opener Saturday afternoon against former conference foe Middle Tennessee. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Last Time Out<\/strong>

\nRice dropped its season opener Friday night 79-65 on the road to RV South Dakota State at First Bank & Trust Arena. Dominique Ennis<\/a> led the Owls with 17 points, four rebounds and two assists, while Victoria Flores<\/a> added 16 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists.<\/p>\n

Rice vs. Houston <\/strong>

\nThis is 61st meeting between the two schools, with the Cougars holding a 48-12 series lead. The Owls won last season’s matchup 60-48 in Tudor Fieldhouse. Dominique Ennis<\/a> led the Owls with 14 points, while Hailey Adams<\/a> added another 10 points. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Non-conference Schedule <\/strong>

\nRice’s non-conference features seven teams that made postseason appearances last season, with South Dakota State and Princeton making the NCAA Tournament. Middle Tennessee and UNLV both played in the WBIT, while Incarnate Word, Illinois State (Fab Four) and UT Arlington were all in the WNIT.<\/p>\n

Preseason Honors <\/strong>

\nThree Owls earned preseason All-Conference honors with Dominique Ennis<\/a> (First Team), Aniah Alexis<\/a> (Second Team) and Victoria Flores<\/a> (Second Team) all earning recognition. Rice was selected third in the American Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.<\/p>\n

Adams Named Servant Leader<\/strong>

\nHailey Adams<\/a> was one of 64 women’s basketball athletes in the nation selected to be a Kay Yow Servant Leader Award winner, a prestigious award honoring student athletes who exemplify the values of leadership, selflessness, and service.<\/p>\n

Year Five<\/strong>

\nShelley Pennington and Friends Head Coach Lindsay Edmonds<\/a> enters her fifth year at the helm for Rice. Already the fastest coach to win a conference title in program history, the Owls are fresh off back-to-back appearances in the American Conference Championship game, claiming the title in 2024.
