PHOENIX \u2014 Police are investigating a hit-and-run in west Phoenix that left a man dead on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

The Phoenix Police Department identified the man who was killed in the collision as 45-year-old Mark Joseph Knapp.<\/p>\n

According to Phoenix PD, officers responded to the area of 35th Avenue and Roosevelt Street<\/a> for reports of a collision involving a male pedestrian around 9:42 p.m.<\/p>\n

When police arrived on scene, they reportedly found Knapp in critical condition. The Phoenix Fire Department took Knapp to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.<\/p>\n

According to detectives, preliminary information suggests that Knapp was in a crosswalk on the north side of the intersection, walking eastbound against the light when he was struck by the car.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was reportedly traveling northbound on 35th Avenue.<\/p>\n

Police said they were able to find the vehicle north of where the collision took place, but that it was unoccupied.<\/p>\n
