KISS<\/a> legend and founding guitarist Ace Frehley\u2019s cause of death has been revealed.<\/p>\n

The rock icon died in Morristown, New Jersey on October 16<\/a>. He was 74 years old. Per a statement shared by his family at the time, Ace \u2013 also known as Spaceman \u2013 died \u201cpeacefully surrounded by family\u201d following \u201ca recent fall at his home\u201d.<\/p>\n

An investigation was then launched into Frehley\u2019s death<\/a>, and the results of a medical examination have now been revealed, ruling his death as an accident. Per medical reports obtained by Rolling Stone<\/a>, a CT scan of the guitarist\u2019s head revealed \u201cmultiple contusions, bone fractures to the back of his skull, hemorrhages and a subdural hematoma\u201d, all of which are linked to blunt force trauma suffered from his fall.<\/p>\n

Rolling Stone also reports that additional bruises were discovered on his hip, thigh and abdomen, and that he had reportedly suffered a stroke. An additional report from TMZ<\/a> also claims that Frehley was placed on life support for some time after the fall.<\/p>\n

The guitarist co-founded KISS in 1973 with singer Paul Stanley, bassist and part-time singer Gene Simmons<\/a> and drummer Peter Criss. After nearly a decade, Frehley had left the band to pursue a solo career, coupled with his struggles with substance abuse and rising tension within the band about their direction.<\/p>\n

In the years following his exit from KISS, Frehley formed a new band, Frehley\u2019s Comet, and he would rejoin KISS for their reunion in 1996 \u2013 staying with them until 2002. He\u00a0did not join them for their farewell world tour in 2022<\/a>. Among the songs Ace helped write for KISS were classics like \u2018I Was Made For Lovin\u2019 You\u2019, \u2018Rock And Roll All Nite\u2019, \u2018Detroit Rock City\u2019, \u2018Love Gun\u2019 and more.<\/p>\n

On December 7, the late guitarist will become the third musician to posthumously receive a Kennedy Center Honour (via\u00a0Far Out<\/a>). He follows on from\u00a0Eagles<\/a>\u2019 Glenn Frey and\u00a0Grateful Dead<\/a>\u2019s Phil Lesh in getting the award.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the remaining members of KISS\u2019 most recent line-up \u2013 consisting of Simmons, Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer \u2013 are due to reunite this coming weekend for the KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas celebration<\/a>, where they are expected to honour Frehley during the three-day event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"KISS legend and founding guitarist Ace Frehley\u2019s cause of death has been revealed.
