SAN DIEGO \u2013 <\/strong>USD men’s rowing wrapped up its fall slate on the home waters of Mission Bay, seeing historic success across each event it competed in with mixed lineups at the San Diego fall classic Sunday.

\n“We’re really proud of the results to round out a great fall season,” head coach Bart Thompson<\/a> said. “We ran mixed boats throughout the event and really showcased our depth.”
\n\u00a0
\nThe Toreros’ day was highlighted by strong finishes in the Men’s Open Eight. For the first time in seven years, the Toreros claimed first in the event, besting second-place UC San Diego’s top boat. USD also posted a strong third place finish in the event and would have claimed three of the top four spots if not for a 60-second buoy penalty that bumped the third-place Torero boat down to seventh place.\u00a0

\nSan Diego continued the solid showing into the Men’s Open Four, the two competing boats finishing in second and fourth place.\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nThe team’s depth and development proved in the freshman\/novice events, as Torero boats took both first and second place in both the freshman\/novice eight-plus and four-plus races.\u00a0\u00a0

\n“Our freshman crews did a great job of taking care of business,” Thompson said.
