They are eyeing the striker for the summer of 2026, when he could leave Barca on a free transfer.

The Blaugrana have the option of unilaterally activating the renewal clause until 2027, but there is a gentlemen’s agreement in place with the player that will only make this option effective if the Pole declares his desire to stay.

Otherwise, if Lewandowski clearly expressed his desire to change teams, Barcelona would do nothing. This wasn’t the case in the summer of 2021 when Chelsea – in order to get €1m plus €1m in bonuses – extended Olivier Giroud’s deal for another year.

A Modric-esque coup

It’s clear to everyone that the Rossoneri are once again bereft of a striker capable of scoring a significant number of goals per season. At the same time, it’s proof that the investments made on younger players have not matched the impact of senior forwards, like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Giroud.

Lewandowski – who turns 38 on August 21st – follows in the footsteps of not only the previously mentioned players, but also Modric. The ex-Bayern man isn’t interested in a stint in Saudi Arabia or the United States: he wants to stay in Europe, and Italy seems to be his destiny.

Milan spoke with Lewandowski’s entourage to see if they were willing to negotiate and found no resistance, but any discussions are geared more towards June than January, given that Robert still wants to finish this season at Barcelona.

It could also be beneficial for Francesco Camarda, because Milan would be adding an elite striker for one to two years, allowing the teenager to keep developing without pressure and then take the No.9 spot when he is ready.

The not-so-impossible sale of Santiago Gimenez could occur too, who thus far hasn’t delivered as expected. It remains to be seen whether the Mexican is suffering from bad patch or has entered a downward spiral that he cannot escape from.

It almost goes without saying that in Italy, no one can afford major spending – above €50-60m – for a striker who isn’t already being snapped up by Premier League clubs. So Lewandowski is in the Rossoneri’s plans and in February, it could become something more.

Another source are reporting that AC Milan are ready to try and sign Robert Lewandowski if he leaves…

[45
221,62,67,132,68
0":"post-371772","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-soccer","8":"tag-soccer","9":"tag-sports","10":"tag-united-states","11":"tag-unitedstates","12":"tag-us
["GET
