HOUSTON \u2014 A River Oaks mansion inspired by fortified residences of the Old World was the second most expensive Houston-area home sold in the final week of October, according to the Houston Association of Realtors.<\/p>\n

The home on Olympia Drive offers amenities found in European estates, including a grand reception hall, a paneled library and a sweeping staircase. It also includes modern touches with a gourmet island kitchen, game room, media room, wine room and wet bar.<\/p>\n

The 9,552-square-foot home has five bedrooms, six full bathrooms and one half-bath.<\/p>\n

The upper-level primary suite has elevator access, a separate sitting room and a lavish bath with dressing rooms.<\/p>\n

The listing price was $5.6 million. HAR said it sold for somewhere between $5.08 million and $5.87 million.<\/p>\n

That’s a downright bargain compared to the priciest home listed in October in Hunters Creek. The massive 22,000-square-foot, eight-bedroom, 10.5 bath estate is listed for a whopping $59,999,999 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The ultra-luxury property on Timberwilde Lane sits on a wooded, fortified and private nine-acre peninsula. “It offers miles of sweeping views, natural beauty, and serene outdoor retreats,” the\u00a0HAR listing says.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Your estimated monthly expense, including principal and interest, insurance and taxes, is a mere $438,253. HAR says the estimated electric bill during the hottest summer months would be somewhere north of $3,500. Gulp. See more photos.<\/a><\/p>\n
