\n Is the age of toys<\/a> really over?\n <\/p>\n

\n That is the fateful question posed by the new teaser trailer for \u201cToy Story 5,\u201d released by Pixar on Tuesday, which picks up on the familiar parenting conundrum about screentime.\n <\/p>\n

\n The brief clip, set to the strains of INXS\u2019 \u201cNever Tear Us Apart,\u201d shows a new package being delivered to Bonnie Anderson, little sister to Andy, who inherited all his toys back in 2010\u2019s emotional \u201cToy Story 3.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n As our favorite collection of anthropomorphic playthings \u2013 including Woody, Buzz, Rex, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head, Jessie and others \u2013 look on in anticipatory horror, the package is opened to reveal a frog-framed tablet named Lilypad, who beckons to Bonnie, \u201cLet\u2019s play!\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n Judging from the girl\u2019s enthusiastic reaction, the toys in this story will have their work cut out for them to remain relevant.\n <\/p>\n

\n It\u2019s still unclear, though, whether the film will address the glaring, meta-tinged irony that said toys have been agents of the screen invasion themselves, as characters in a 30-year-old movie franchise.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cToy Story 5\u201d will bring back usual suspects Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack, among others, as part of the voice cast.\n <\/p>\n

\n The movie welcomes franchise newcomers Ernie Hudson, Conan O\u2019Brien and Greta Lee as the voice of Lilypad, according to Pixar\u2019s trailer description on YouTube.\n <\/p>\n
