\n\tLandman<\/a> stars are opening up about Taylor Sheridan<\/a>\u2018s future departure.<\/p>\n

\n\tLast month, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Sheridan<\/a>, the co-creator and writer, would be leaving the show\u2019s home at Paramount<\/a> for NBCUniversal, with a film deal set to begin next year. However, his TV deal with Paramount doesn\u2019t start until the end of 2028, and then, he will go to NBCUniversal.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile premiering the second season<\/a> of the hit Paramount+ series Landman<\/a>, Billy Bob Thornton<\/a>, who plays oil crisis manager Tommy Norris, shared his thoughts on Sheridan\u2019s move. \u201cI think the shows that are at Paramount, stay at Paramount, so I don\u2019t think those are affected,\u201d Thornton told THR on the red carpet. \u201cHis deal is for the future. And who knows what that holds. Taylor is a brilliant guy, and I\u2019m sure wherever he goes, whatever he does is gonna be successful, at least I know it\u2019ll be real.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLandman newcomer for this season<\/a>, Sam Elliot, who plays T.L. and is Tommy\u2019s (Thornton) father, offered a similar take to Thornton. \u201cIt\u2019s not gonna impact the future of this series because everything that Taylor had at Paramount is gonna stay at Paramount. It\u2019s not like he\u2019s taking it there,\u201d Elliot told THR. \u201cThe Universal thing, as I understand, it\u2019s a whole new deal, so it\u2019s just great for Taylor\u2019s world. I think it\u2019s fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen Landman season one premiered in November of last year, it drew 5.2 million viewers, the top Paramount+ series debut in two years since Sheridan\u2019s additional series,\u00a0Yellowstone prequel\u00a01923, drew\u00a07.4 million\u00a0cross-platform viewers in December 2022. Thornton went on to describe how he \u201cabsolutely\u201d felt pressure to have the second season live up to its predecessor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnytime you have a success and it\u2019s going to continue, there\u2019s always pressure to make sure that it continues. If you\u2019re making movies, you do a sequel, theres always pressure,\u201d he told THR. \u201cSo, we felt it, but once you start, you just have to forget that and go out there and do your job.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThornton\u2019s TV daughter, Michelle Randolph<\/a>, who plays Ainsley Norris, thinks Landman won\u2019t be stopping anytime soon. \u201cThere\u2019s so many stories to tell. There\u2019s so many really distinct characters, I feel like we could go on and on and on because what I always have to remind myself \u2014 the first season was 10 days in the show so I\u2019m like, we could film the show for so long because it\u2019s not like it\u2019s one season, taking place over a year or anything,\u201d she told THR. \u201cThere\u2019s so much room for growth in every single character; they\u2019re all deeply flawed in their own ways, which is what makes them really enticing to watch because it\u2019s very human.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRandolph also described what it was like to welcome Demi Moore back to the ensemble, this time with a larger role<\/a>. \u201cI love working with Demi. And also, Pilaf was on set, her cute little dog,\u201d she said. \u201cHoroscope-wise, it was the luckiest day of the year, everyone kept telling me, and I was on set with Demi, Sam Elliott<\/a>, Andy Garcia, Billy Bob, Ali Larter \u2014 I just had to pinch myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLandman season two debuts on Paramount+ Nov. 16.<\/p>\n
