{"id":37328,"date":"2025-07-04T06:09:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-04T06:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/37328\/"},"modified":"2025-07-04T06:09:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-04T06:09:08","slug":"carey-terrance-thrilled-to-be-reuniting-with-former-junior-hockey-teammate-on-rangers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/37328\/","title":{"rendered":"Carey Terrance thrilled to be reuniting with former junior hockey teammate on Rangers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In more ways than one, prospect <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/12\/sports\/rangers-chris-kreider-signs-off-on-trade-to-ducks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carey Terrance seems to be<\/a> on the winning side since arriving in New York.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Though it\u2019s one thing to be ripped away from your developmental path, the 20-year-old now has the opportunity to play closer to home for the Rangers as he was a part of the return from the Ducks in the June trade for Chris Kreider.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Akwesasne native, who was drafted by Anaheim in the second round (59th overall) in 2023, doesn\u2019t have family traveling as far to visit, and his two sisters go to school nearby, including one at Albany.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s surprising there\u2019s not too many Rangers fans up back home,\u201d Terrance said after the second day of the developmental camp for prospects at the MSG Training Center on Wednesday. \u201cIt\u2019s mostly Montreal and Boston, but the ones that are Rangers fans were texting me right away and were really excited.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Carey Terrance was drafted by Anaheim in the second round of the 2023 NHL Draft.  Robert Sabo for NY Post<\/p>\n<p>The center also will be reunited with one of his best friends and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/28\/sports\/rangers-add-malcolm-spence-in-second-round-of-nhl-draft\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">teammate Malcolm Spence<\/a>, with whom he played the past three years with the Erie Otters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Before the Rangers drafted Spence 43rd overall last week, Terrance was shaking in anticipation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was actually sitting in my bed on the second day of the draft,\u201d he said. \u201cI put on the second round, and I see the Islanders have the pick before the Rangers and I\u2019m like, \u2018Ugh, they might draft him with [Matthew] Schaefer. I sent a video to our group chat right away in Erie. I was really excited.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Though early in his career, Terrance didn\u2019t take any great offense in <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/11\/sports\/rangers-continuing-chris-kreider-trade-talks-with-ducks-wednesday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the trade across the country<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>He is turning pro this year and in taking that next step, he is just trying to get as ingrained with the Rangers as possible, starting with the development camp.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rangers rookie Carey Terrance when the team held its training for rookies on July 1, 2025 at Madison Square Garden Training Center in Greenburgh, NY. Anaheim drafted me and did really well with my development.
