Our hearts are broken, and our family is forever changed,\u201d Turner\u2019s family wrote\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/fundraiser-for-lauren-turner__;!!F0Stn7g!HtpyiUYftGJOIedxhqbLFi6IVoyAaRuBKBenw0UX3FVGcyQ-n8krRqgFzIMiHRia3n8vIwJ2HJnU4cO5dkne$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on GoFundMe.<\/a>\u00a0\u201cWe will miss her beyond measure, yet we take great comfort in knowing she is now in the loving embrace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<p>Cal State Fullerton Lauren Turner died on Nov. 7 after being struck by a box truck while riding an electric scooter off campus on Sept. 27, 2025. GoFundMe<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLauren approached everything she did with heart and joy. She was funny, full of life, and had a gift for making people laugh and feel at ease,\u201d the grieving family wrote. \u201cHer laughter was a reflection of the joy God placed in her heart. As a dedicated soccer player, she was known for her encouragement, determination, and the way she lifted up those around her. Her teammates and coaches have shared countless stories of her positivity, humor, competitiveness, and leadership \u2013 reminders of the light she carried both on and off the field.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Turner and her teammate, sophomore Ashlyn Gwynn, were riding their electric scooters to a Cal State men\u2019s soccer game at around 7 p.m. on Sept. 27 when they were struck by the box truck driving in the same lane as them on Associated Road, just north of Southern California campus, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>The Fullerton Police Department said the teammates were riding in the second lane at the time of the crash. Satellite images show a bike lane dividing the right turn lane from the other lanes near the intersection with Yodba Linda Blvd.<\/p>\n<p>Electric scooters lay in the road as police investigated the cause of the crash, according to video\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/losangeles\/news\/2-csu-fullerton-soccer-players-hospitalized-after-electric-scooter-crash\/__;!!F0Stn7g!HtpyiUYftGJOIedxhqbLFi6IVoyAaRuBKBenw0UX3FVGcyQ-n8krRqgFzIMiHRia3n8vIwJ2HJnU4cq-ZMZc$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">obtained by KCAL.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alcohol or drugs are not believed to have played a factor in the accident, the Fullerton Police Department said.<\/p>\n<p>Turner, number 5, and Ashlyn Gwynn, 7, were riding scooters to a men\u2019s soccer game when they were struck by the box truck. GoFundMe<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the truck, a Ford Econoline E350, remained at the scene of the tragic accident and was cooperative with authorities, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailytitan.com\/news\/two-csuf-womens-soccer-players-involved-in-critical-accident-near-campus\/article_40eaaa91-9d04-420d-b3da-c828004fb168.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">student newspaper the Daily Titan.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>No arrests have been made.<\/p>\n<p>Turner was placed in the ICU battling severe head trauma, her family said.<\/p>\n<p>The Tustin, California-native played in all 20 matches her Freshman year, tallying one goal and one assist. She played in all 10 matches of her second season before her crash, starting in eight for a total of 595 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Ashlyn Gwynn was \u201cseverely injured\u201d and placed in the ICU before being moved out to the \u201cStep Down\u201d unit, her family announced on their\u00a0own GoFundMe\u00a0on Oct. 30.
