{"id":37340,"date":"2025-07-04T06:15:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-04T06:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/37340\/"},"modified":"2025-07-04T06:15:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-04T06:15:08","slug":"mental-health-colorado-shuts-down-safer-program-after-funding-runs-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/37340\/","title":{"rendered":"Mental Health Colorado shuts down Safer program after funding runs out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mentalhealthcolorado.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mental Health Colorado<\/a> is shutting down its program to help people leaving the Arapahoe County jail to find stable housing and prevent further arrests.<\/p>\n<p>Vincent Atchity, the group\u2019s president and CEO, said the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mentalhealthcolorado.org\/background_safer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Safer program<\/a> succeeded: only three of 221 people that Mental Health Colorado worked with picked up new criminal charges, and no one overdosed.<\/p>\n<p>The pandemic relief dollars that funded the program have run out, though, and Mental Health Colorado hasn\u2019t been able to find another reliable funding source, he said in a letter to stakeholders.
