Dallas Mavericks fans were likely celebrating after Tuesday\u2019s news of Nico Harrison\u2019s departure from the team.<\/p>\n

According to a new report, there might have been a relatively large chunk of Dallas-area pets that were happy about it as well.<\/p>\n

A comprehensive new study by Rover.com broke down several different data points relating to the most popular pet names across the country in 2025.<\/p>\n

Among the most notable bullet points? Harrison\u2019s trade of former Mavericks star Luka Doncic apparently hasn\u2019t dissuaded Dallasites from naming their pets after Luka. Particularly among cat-owners: There was a 139% uptick in cats named Luka in 2025 in Dallas, even after his trade to LA.<\/p>\n

Among sports-related dog names across the country, Luka is the fourth-trendiest at a 51% increase, no doubt getting a boost from his swath of new fans in California.<\/p>\n

Doncic, however, is far from the only local athlete to be a popular namesake among four-legged friends.<\/p>\n

No. 1 on the list of trendiest sports-related dog names would be \u201cArch,\u201d presumably for Texas quarterback Arch Manning. Dogs named Arch are up 181% from last year\u2019s study. For good measure, \u201cManning\u201d is the No. 3 trendiest among cat names, up 232% from 2024.<\/p>\n

Also among the trendiest dog names for 2025 are \u201cFlagg\u201d (No. 4, up 31% increase) for new Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg. And Highland Park\u2019s Scottie Scheffler is the No. 1 golfer in the world, so \u201cScottie\u201d (No. 5, up 22%) made its way to the top 5 as well.<\/p>\n

Bills QB Josh Allen has the distinction of being the trendiest sports-related name among cats in 2025, tied with Jalen Hurts (up 232%), but Allen gets the tiebreaker since he\u2019s No. 2 on the list of trendiest dog names as well.<\/p>\n

Other sports-related names submitted to Rover for the study: Cee Dee Little Lamb and Catrick Mahomes.<\/p>\n

Overall, the trendiest names for dogs in 2025: Caesar (up 122%) for males, and Elphie (up 244%) for females.<\/p>\n

And among cats: Priscilla (up 73%) for females, and Tater (92%) for males.<\/p>\n
