PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Paxton Wallace was just 31 years old when she was brutally murdered in her home, allegedly by her longtime boyfriend, Jeffrey Rael, 47, who police said confessed<\/a> to the crime.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was really strong. She did everything with grace and humility,\u201d said Alida Wallace, Paxton\u2019s sister.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe wasn\u2019t old. She wasn\u2019t sick. Somebody chose to end her life. Somebody chose to take her from us,\u201d said Tiffany Wallace, Paxton\u2019s aunt.<\/p>\n

Both are in shock that the man they trusted to protect Paxton is accused of taking her life. Family members remember Paxton as a bright light who loved her faith, her two dogs, and going out to breakfast with family on Sundays.<\/p>\n

Even though Rael has a criminal history, they never expected he would kill her.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust wild. I mean, we\u2019ve spent holidays with him. We\u2019ve shared our home with him for multiple years,\u201d Alida said. \u201cWe had many cherished moments with him before this, and now they\u2019re just all stained.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will just be generational pain that you can\u2019t soothe,\u201d Tiffany said.<\/p>\n

Detectives said around 3:40 a.m. on Friday, Rael called 911 and said \u201che had to kill her because she was possessed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was trying to get out. She was trying to reach out for help. There\u2019s, there are shelters, there are places, but there\u2019s a wait list. There\u2019s a lottery. It\u2019s a hope you get in,\u201d Tiffany said.<\/p>\n

Court documents revealed disturbing details. When police arrived on scene, Rael was armed with a hammer and cross. A blood-soaked chainsaw was found in the kitchen and Paxton was unrecognizable.<\/p>\n

Recent data from the Council on Criminal Justice<\/a> show violent offenses in Phoenix and other major cities across the country declined in the first half of this year, compared to the same time frame in 2024.<\/p>\n

Domestic violence is the sole outlier with cases rising by 3%.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one wants to say that someone who said they love them is hurting them,\u201d Alida said. Looking back, they worry Paxton suffered more than she led on, not wanting to be a burden.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there\u2019s anyone out there that is feeling that way, you\u2019re not a burden,\u201d Tiffany said. \u201cReach out, get help. Don\u2019t be what Paxton\u2019s life ended in.\u201d<\/p>\n

As they process the sudden loss, Paxton\u2019s family is clinging to the happy memories.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanksgiving was her holiday. She was a small girl, but she loved to eat,\u201d Tiffany said.<\/p>\n

But instead of preparing for Thanksgiving, they\u2019re planning a funeral.<\/p>\n

Rael is charged with first-degree murder and is being held on a $1 million bond.<\/p>\n
