After trailing by as many as 18, the Tritons (1-2) cut the deficit to two in the fourth quarter but could not complete the comeback against the Hornets (3-1).<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/ucsdtritons.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/lev-feiman\/14026\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"14026\" target=\"_blank\">Lev Feiman<\/a> led the Tritons with 15 points, while <a href=\"https:\/\/ucsdtritons.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/sabrina-ma\/14019\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"14019\" target=\"_blank\">Sabrina Ma<\/a> finished with 13 and <a href=\"https:\/\/ucsdtritons.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/dymonique-maxie\/14024\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"14024\" target=\"_blank\">Dymonique Maxie<\/a> added 11. <a href=\"https:\/\/ucsdtritons.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/erin-condron\/14016\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"14016\" target=\"_blank\">Erin Condron<\/a> collected a team-best nine rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block, while Maxie tallied three assists and two steals as well.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>HOW IT HAPPENED<\/strong><br \/>\nUC San Diego got off to a slow start in the opening quarter, falling behind early, 7-0. The Tritons remained tough defense and put together a 10-point scoring run highlighted by a three from <a href=\"https:\/\/ucsdtritons.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/niya-price\/14029\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"14029\" target=\"_blank\">Niya Price<\/a> and five made free throws to pull in front, 10-7, with 2:50 remaining in the period. The Hornets scored the final three points of the period, and the teams went into the first quarter break tied, 10-10.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Tritons opened the second quarter with a jumper by Ma to take the lead once again, 12-10, but Sacramento responded with three consecutive 3-pointers to pull in front, 19-12, at the media timeout. Price ended the scoring run with a three to make it 19-15, but Sacramento responded with a pair of threes to build a ten-point advantage, 25-15. UC San Diego rallied once again with back-to-back buckets from Feiman and Rose but the Hornets closed out the quarter with a 10-point scoring run to lead, 35-19, at halftime.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nMa put together a strong run for the Tritons to open the second half, scoring seven unanswered as part of a 11-4 scoring run for the home team to make it 41-30. The Hornets maintained a double-digit lead at 47-32 with under three minutes to play before UC San Diego found its rhythm. The Tritons scored eight unanswered to end the quarter and make it 47-40 at the final quarter break.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nUC San Diego carried the momentum into the final period, with a three from <a href=\"https:\/\/ucsdtritons.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/rosa-smith\/14022\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"14022\" target=\"_blank\">Rosa Smith<\/a> and a layup by Maxie to make it a one possession game, 47-45. Sacramento State countered with a 9-2 scoring run to lead, 56-47, before the Tritons mounted a comeback once again.
