And you\u2019d better embrace that wintertime joy quick\u2014tickets for the festive railcars go on sale this Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Holiday Trains have become an annual tradition for our riders and their families, and we are happy to be operating them again,\u201d Jim Derwinski, CEO and executive director of Metra said in a press release. \u201cIt\u2019s our way to spread a little holiday joy and thank our riders for making Metra part of their lives all year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>RECOMMENDED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/chicago\/things-to-do\/metra-excursions-from-chicago\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The 22 most epic Metra day trips from Chicago<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Every year, Metra transforms its hyper-neutral railcars into vestiges of a winter wonderland. Stanchions are transformed into candy canes, wreaths crown the glazed glass windows and the whole ride is commandeered by Santa and a crew of trusty elves. Passengers will share a train car with clusters of pint-sized Christmas trees while the sound of holiday music streams through the train&#8217;s speakers.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Metra Holiday Train will appear on all of its train lines\u2014ensuring that every Chicagoan and suburbanite, naughty or nice, can bask in its seasonal sparkle. The holiday train schedule is as follows:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>&#13;<\/p>\n<li><strong>Dec 6:<\/strong> Milwaukee District West and BNSF lines<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li><strong>Dec 13:<\/strong> Metra Electric, Rock Island and UP Northwest lines<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li><strong>Dec 20:<\/strong> Metra Electric Line<\/li>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/ul>\n<p>On all dates and train lines, passengers have two options: One, they can ride back to their starting point for a smooth round trip; or, for those who want to spend the day downtown, they can redeem their holiday train ticket for any scheduled return train that same day.\u00a0For those passing through Millennium Station, the HB Threads booth\u2014which provides employment opportunities, job training and life skills development for those with disabilities\u2014will be creating free buttons for all Holiday Train riders.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you aren\u2019t able to hop on the Midwest\u2019s version of the Polar Express, don\u2019t fret:\u00a0Several downtown train\u00a0stations\u2019 halls will be fully decked with festive decor, and the Holiday Trains will be used during regular service throughout December.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for Metra\u2019s\u00a0Holiday Train\u00a0will go on sale via <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.metra.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Metra\u2019s website<\/a> at noon on Friday, November 17.
