{"id":375349,"date":"2025-11-13T06:36:22","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T06:36:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/375349\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T06:36:22","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T06:36:22","slug":"weiner-dog-adoption-surge-at-jacksonville-acps-fueled-by-local-tiktok-creator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/375349\/","title":{"rendered":"Weiner dog adoption surge at Jacksonville ACPS fueled by local TikTok creator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>JACKSONVILLE, Fla. <\/strong> \u2013 Jacksonville\u2019s Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) experienced a wave of cuteness and adoptions this week as a large group of dachshunds arrived at the shelter. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">More than 70 dachshunds are expected over the next few weeks, with 16 already in the shelter and quickly claimed by adopters or rescue organizations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Chief Michael Bricker explained the influx started with a call from a one-time breeding situation that got out of hand. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cWe had a call from a one-time breeder who was just overwhelmed, in over her head. She needed some help. So, our officers went out there to see what the situation was, and she\u2019s been great,\u201d Bricker said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">About 10 of the dachshunds were adopted almost immediately, while six others were sent to rescue groups. One of the fortunate adopters is Bethany Michel, a Jacksonville TikToker known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@wubzinmaface\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@wubzinmaface\">Wubz<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Michel has been creating videos about ACPS\u2019s \u201cDog Day Out\u201d program for several months and recently posted a video about the dachshunds that has been viewed by over a million people. (Copyright 2025 by WJXT News4JAX &#8211; All rights reserved.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Michel has been creating videos about ACPS\u2019s \u201cDog Day Out\u201d program for several months and recently posted a video about the dachshunds that has been viewed by over a million people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI\u2019ve had some experience in the past where videos with other dogs have blown up, but never really to this extent,\u201d Michel said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">She saw ACPS\u2019s post about the dachshunds just two minutes after it was published.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI made that video just to kind of spread awareness especially because they had an influx coming in. Never in a million years did I expect to get a million and a half views,\u201d Michel added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The dachshunds\u2019 popularity was so high that the shelter had to put up a sign informing the public that no dachshunds were currently available for adoption. However, Chief Bricker emphasized there are still plenty of other dogs waiting for homes. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cYou know, we have like 300 dogs here and those 16 helped another 20 or 25 get adopted that probably wouldn\u2019t have got adopted that quickly. But that extra attention from all over is so helpful,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">ACPS expects about 30 more dachshunds to arrive next week, with potentially another group after that.<\/p>\n<p>ACPS says more Daschunds will be in need of a home soon. (Copyright 2025 by WJXT News4JAX &#8211; All rights reserved.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Michel encouraged those interested in adopting a dachshund to stay connected to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/jaxanimalcare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/jaxanimalcare\">ACPS\u2019s Facebook page<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThe Animal Care and Protective Services Facebook is where the first word is going to be out.
