San Diego County Animal Services on Thursday asked for the public\u2019s help finding the suspect in a case of animal abuse in Spring Valley.<\/p>\n
The incident was first reported near the 9100 block of Edgewood Drive around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday and continued for several minutes along Bancroft Drive, according to the County of San Diego.<\/p>\n
Witnesses told officials a red and brown Doberman was being dragged behind a car that was going around 30 miles per hour, causing the dog to flip over multiple times. They say it looked like the driver was laughing and ignored people who were trying to intervene.<\/p>\n
The suspect was described as a man in his 30s with long gold or brown hair and a red beard. He was believed to be driving an older model black Jeep Cherokee. Investigators say they have a license plate number, but the car might have changed ownership, so they’re looking for the current owner.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a truly shocking act of cruelty,\u201d County Animal Services Director Vaughn Maurice said in news release. \u201cWe are doing everything we can to identify the person responsible and ensure they are held accountable. We need the community\u2019s help. If you saw anything or know who was involved, please contact us immediately. Your tip could make all the difference for this innocent animal.\u201d<\/p>\n
