LP Media<\/p>\n<p>The unidentified pair were both found unresponsive, face-up, and their bodies appeared to have been mummified, according to sources.<\/p>\n<p>EMS pronounced them dead on the scene, authorities said. <\/p>\n<p>The two bodies were removed from the premises by 7:35 p.m. The Post observed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s actually nasty. I can smell it as soon as I walk out of the elevator. Almost taste it,\u201d a police officer exiting the building said of the horrifying stench coming from the apartment. <\/p>\n<p>Neighbors recalled smelling the decomposing bodies in the building for days. LP Media<\/p>\n<p>The son lived nearby, but not in the home with his mother, the building\u2019s doorman, who wished not to be identified, told The Post. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe son always used to come here to take care of his mother,\u201d the doorman said. \u201cI haven\u2019t seen him for maybe two or three weeks.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A neighbor across the hall from where the bodies were found noted that the smell of decomposition had been drifting out of the unit \u201cfor days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would come in waves, and the maintenance would spray like an air freshener,\u201d the neighbor, who also asked not to be identified, recalled.<\/p>\n<p>There was no apparent trauma to the bodies, and no criminality is suspected as of now.
