Former NFL defensive back Asante Samuel understands what it takes to win a Super Bowl.<\/p>\n
And he clearly doesn’t think the Denver Broncos have the quarterback to do so.<\/p>\n
Samuel took to social media Wednesday and said, “Please don’t tell me anyone believes in Bo Nix. He isn’t like that!”<\/p>\n
In Samuel’s defense, Nix hasn’t looked like a Super Bowl quarterback the last two times out when he threw for 173 yards in an 18-15 win over the Houston Texans and 150 yards in an ugly 10-7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. <\/p>\n
He combined for three touchdown passes and three interceptions in those contests, but Denver’s strong defense still led the way to victory.<\/p>\n
Yet Nix also led the Broncos to the playoffs as a rookie last season while completing 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. And he is 8-2 as a starter this season even if his numbers have taken somewhat of a hit with a 60.9 completion percentage for 2,126 yards, 18 touchdowns and eight interceptions.<\/p>\n
The second-year quarterback might not be the biggest reason Denver is winning, but he has flashed enough potential at times early in his career that plenty of Broncos fans surely believe in his ability to be a long-term franchise quarterback.<\/p>\n
The former defensive back won two Super Bowls and was a four-time Pro Bowler during his career that lasted from 2003 through 2013 and included stops with the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons.<\/p>\n
