A man has been indicted on a capital murder charge in connection with the brutal beheading<\/a> of a man at a Dallas motel in September, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, 37, was formally charged with capital murder in the death of Chandra Nagamallaiah, 50, on Oct. 23, court records show.<\/p>\n

Dallas police responded to reports of a stabbing at about 9:30 a.m. Sept. 10 at the Downtown Suites motel in the 3400 block of Samuell Boulevard in Old East Dallas.<\/p>\n

Witnesses reported seeing Cobos-Martinez, who had been living and working at the motel, argue with the Nagamallaiah before grabbing a machete and attacking him.<\/p>\n

Nagamallaiah\u2019s wife and son attempted to stop the attack but were pushed out of the way by Cobos-Martinez, witnesses reported.<\/p>\n

The attack continued until Nagamallaiah was decapitated and Cobos-Martinez allegedly put the victim\u2019s head in a dumpster, The News previously reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dallas Fire-Rescue pronounced Nagamallaiah dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

Cobos-Martinez was arrested and as of Wednesday remains in the Dallas County jail with a bond amount set at $1.25 million.<\/p>\n

Cobos-Martinez has been assigned an attorney, records show.<\/p>\n

Cobos-Martinez is an undocumented migrant from Cuba<\/a> and had a prior deportation order to the country, Tricia McLaughlin, a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security, previously told The News.<\/p>\n

When Cobos-Martinez was originally arrested and booked in Dallas County jail, DHS issued an immigration detainer against him. <\/p>\n

As of Wednesday, no bond amount was set for the immigration hold, jail records show.<\/p>\n

Officials with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement were not immediately available for comment about the case.<\/p>\n
