PHOENIX \u2013 If you were aiming to spend time outdoors this weekend, you might want to rethink your plans \u2013 or at least bring an umbrella.<\/p>\n

The latest metro Phoenix forecast calls for partly sunny skies and highs in the middle to upper 80s on Thursday and Friday, but a wet storm system is due to arrive on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to be looking at unsettled weather setting in for this weekend, as we see a low-pressure system approaching the region. So, with that, we\u2019re going to be looking at cooler temperatures along with increasing rain chances across the region,\u201d Isaac Smith, a meteorologist with the Phoenix office of the National Weather Service (NWS), told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, forecasters were expecting<\/a> the rain to arrive on Friday, but the system is taking longer than projected to develop.<\/p>\n

Smith said parts of the Valley could start seeing rain on Saturday morning, with the chance for precipitation to climb as high as 80% that night into Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn terms of rainfall totals, places could be seeing upwards of half an inch to an inch right now with our current forecast. If we do see any thunderstorms, we could see some locally heavier amounts,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n

What does latest metro Phoenix forecast say about temperatures?<\/p>\n

Temperature-wise, highs are expected to dip to the upper 70s on Saturday and lower 70s on Sunday and Monday. The cooldown is projected to continue with temperatures peaking in the upper 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday. Phoenix typically reaches<\/a> the middle to upper 70s in mid-November.<\/p>\n

April 2 was the last time the Phoenix temperature didn\u2019t reach at least 70 degrees, and Oct. 13 was the last time measurable rain fell at Sky Harbor International Airport, which the NWS uses for the city\u2019s official readings.<\/p>\n

Smith said the chance for rain remains in the metro Phoenix forecast into next week, with another potentially wet storm system on the horizon.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you have outdoor plans<\/a>, make sure you\u2019re keeping up to date with the forecast, and you may have to change those plans,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s exactly what organizers of Saturday\u2019s AZ Barrels Bottles & Brews<\/a> craft beer festival did. The annual event at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale has been canceled due to inclement weather.<\/p>\n
