A video showed officers struggling with her as they walked out the front door. Her attorneys said in a statement Thursday that she was released from a detention center in Indiana on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled that Ms. Santillana was released, and has been able to return home to Chicago where she belongs,\u201d attorney Charlie Wysong said in the statement. \u201cWe will continue to pursue her immigration claims to stay in the United States. But her detention at a day care was unusual even under \u201cOperation Midway Blitz,\u201d which has resulted in more than 3,000 immigration arrests in the Chicago area since early September. Agents have rappelled from a Black Hawk helicopter in a middle-of-the-night apartment building raid, appeared with overwhelming force in recreational areas and launched tear gas amid protests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so grateful to everyone who has advocated on my behalf, and on behalf of the countless others who have experienced similar trauma over recent months in the Chicago area,\u201d Santillana Galeano said in the same statement. \u201cI love our community and the children I teach, and I can\u2019t wait to see them again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Homeland Security said last week that the woman. who is from Colombia, entered the U.S. illegally in June 2023 but obtained authorization to work under the Biden administration.
