The Carroll Independent School District will sell Old Dragon Stadium to Southlake, and the Southlake City Council has agreed to develop the site into a city park.<\/p>\n

The stadium served as home field for the Carroll High School football team that won its first three state championships<\/a> in 1988, \u201992 and \u201993.<\/p>\n

The Carroll ISD board of trustees at a Nov. 3 special workshop<\/a> approved a resolution to declare 14.78 acres at 2400 N. Carroll Ave. \u2014 Old Dragon Stadium \u2014 as surplus property and authorized its sale to Southlake.<\/p>\n

The city will create a community green space and honor the football legacy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis partnership represents a shared commitment between the district and the city to honor our past while preserving this cherished landmark for future generations,\u201d Cameron Bryan, Carroll school board president, said.<\/p>\n

The Southlake City Council on Nov. 4 announced an agreement<\/a> to acquire Old Dragon Stadium. Planning in 2026 will involve the Southlake Parks and Recreation Board, booster clubs and youth football programs to reimagine the property.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s important to preserve that footprint of the original field,\u201d Southlake Mayor Shawn McCaskill said. \u201cI think there\u2019s going to be lots of great ideas that we\u2019ll invite our fellow residents to come to the table and work with our parks board and work with the city council to really reimagine that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The school district opened the current Dragon Stadium in 2001, winning five more state titles since then.<\/p>\n
