Add Challenges<\/p>\n<p>If walking is your go-to form of cardio, there are various ways to make it more challenging, like performing <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eatthis.com\/10-minute-interval-walking-workouts\/\" target=\"_blank\">interval training<\/a> or weaving in some steeper inclines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re looking for a pace where you\u2019re slightly out of breath but can still hold a conversation,\u201d Grimm notes. \u201cIf you can add in some inclines or alternate fast bursts of walking with a more moderate pace, all the better. This can really help to increase the calories you burn and speed up fat loss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>2. Combine It With Other Forms of Training<\/p>\n<p>Walking is much easier on the joints compared to high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and strength training, making it an incredibly sustainable form of exercise\u2014especially for older adults.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the best results in terms of fat loss and muscle tone will usually come from combining walking with another type of exercise,\u201d Grimm points out.<\/p>\n<p>3. Be Consistent<\/p>\n<p>Overall, consistency is the name of the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsistency will always win over occasional bursts of activity, even at higher levels of intensity,\u201d Grimm tells us. \u201cRegular daily walking creates a steady calorie deficit which is essential for fat loss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>4.
