Hodges case, more than 2,000 guests filled the Sheraton Dallas for a night that celebrated resilience, love, and progress at the 44th annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blacktie.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Black Tie Dinner<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The timing of the November 8 gala, America\u2019s largest LGBTQ+ fundraiser and one of Dallas&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/dallas.culturemap.com\/news\/society\/best-fall-galas-luncheons-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">most anticipated<\/a> of the season, couldn\u2019t have been more poignant. The evening\u2019s keynote speaker, <strong>Jim Obergefell<\/strong>, whose name became synonymous with marriage equality, received Black Tie Dinner&#8217;s Equality Award and urged attendees to remember both the progress made and the challenges still ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Marking a milestone in representation, this year\u2019s event was co-chaired by <strong>Liliana Villarreal<\/strong> and <strong>Deirdre Coleman<\/strong>, the first time in the organization\u2019s history that two women \u2014 not to mention two women of color \u2014 have steered the evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"shortcode-media shortcode-media-rebelmouse-image\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"054b3\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"2207ee2020362ddd02ccf00428954eb9\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%203133%202089'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1763077458_119_black-tie-dinner-dallas-2025.jpg\" width=\"3133\" height=\"2089\" alt=\"Black Tie Dinner Dallas 2025\"\/> There was no shortage of photo ops.Photo by Jonathan Zizzo Photography<\/p>\n<p>But first the event, with the theme this year of &#8220;Still We Rise,&#8221; welcomed glamorously attired guests down the gold carpet (a nod to Wicked, perhaps?) for a lively cocktail hour spent browsing the extensive silent auction and capturing their striking ensembles at the many photo ops. Guests also vied for a $50,000 luxury car credit courtesy of Park Place Motorcars Dallas, marking the 17th year of partnership with the long-standing supporter.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the ballroom, DFW&#8217;s own <strong>Denise Lee<\/strong> began the program with a powerful performance of Andra Day&#8217;s &#8220;Rise Up&#8221; before the BTD board of directors was introduced by <strong>U.S. Representative Julie Johnson<\/strong>, the first openly gay member of Congress from the South and the first woman to ever represent Texas&#8217; District 32.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carl Nassib<\/strong>, the NFL&#8217;s first openly gay active player, then introduced <strong>Jaymes Black<\/strong>, CEO of The Trevor Project, who was honored with the Kuchling Humanitarian Award for their life-saving work supporting LGBTQ+ youth. <\/p>\n<p>A fast-paced live auction was followed by representatives of the BTD 2025 beneficiaries:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ee-ul\">\n<li>Abounding Prosperity, Inc.<\/li>\n<li>ASD &#8211; A Home for Life<\/li>\n<li>Cathedral of Hope<\/li>\n<li>Celebration Community Church<\/li>\n<li>Dallas Hope Charities<\/li>\n<li>Equality Texas Foundation<\/li>\n<li>Finn&#8217;s Place<\/li>\n<li>Galileo Church \/ NTTN<\/li>\n<li>HELP Center for LGBT Health &amp; Wellness<\/li>\n<li>Human Rights Campaign Foundation<\/li>\n<li>Kind Clinic<\/li>\n<li>Legacy Cares<\/li>\n<li>LGBTQ SAVES<\/li>\n<li>Northaven Church<\/li>\n<li>Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas<\/li>\n<li>Resource Center<\/li>\n<li>Synergy Wesley Foundation<\/li>\n<li>Transition Resource Action Center<\/li>\n<li>Turtle Creek Chorale<\/li>\n<li>Uptown Players<\/li>\n<li>The Women&#8217;s Chorus of Dallas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dallas native <strong>Hayley Orrantia<\/strong> and the band Extended Play entertained during dinner, before <strong>Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett<\/strong> brought the crowd to its feet with a message of unity and perseverance. She introduced Libby Gonzales, this year&#8217;s recipient of the Mike Anglin Trailblazer Award, which is given to an LGBTQ+ individual under the age of 25 who has proven to be a change agent for the LGBTQ+ community on a local or national level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"shortcode-media shortcode-media-rebelmouse-image\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"38465\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"44c728765dd8a534938170c1808672c9\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%202000%201333'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/jasmine-crockett-black-tie-dinner-dallas-2025.jpg\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1333\" alt=\"Jasmine Crockett Black Tie Dinner Dallas 2025\"\/> Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.Photo by Selig Polyscope Company<\/p>\n<p>Following an introduction by actor actor <strong>Brian Michael Smith<\/strong>, <strong>Kelley Robinson<\/strong>, president of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, continued that call to action, reminding guests that courage \u2014 like fear \u2014 can be contagious.<\/p>\n<p>From its beginnings in 1982 as a small gathering of friends to a national symbol of LGBTQ+ unity, Black Tie Dinner continues to define what it means to rise, again and again, together.
