According to On3\u2019s Pete Nakos<\/strong><\/a>, Virginia Cavaliers<\/a><\/strong> quarterback Chandler Morris<\/a><\/strong> is questionable heading into the matchup against Duke<\/a><\/strong>. Morris left the Wake Forest<\/a><\/strong> game after taking a late hit while sliding, putting his status for Saturday into question.<\/p>\n

\u201cSources tell @On3sports<\/a> that Virginia QB Chandler Morris remains in concussion protocol and is viewed as questionable for Saturday against Duke,\u201d Nakos said<\/a> via X. \u201cThere is legitimate hope he can play this weekend. Will continue to be evaluated leading up to gametime.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morris joined Virginia this offseason, being a big-time get out of the NCAA transfer portal<\/strong><\/a>. He has helped them turn in the best season under head coach Tony Elliott<\/a><\/strong> thus far. In 10 games, Morris has thrown for 2,088 yards, 12 touchdowns, and five interceptions. His legs are always a valuable weapon too, adding 214 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Leaving the Wake Forest game early, Morris only put up six passes for 19 yards. <\/p>\n

If Morris cannot go, backup Daniel Kaelin<\/a><\/strong> will get the nod. He was another portal addition, coming via Nebraska<\/a><\/strong>. Virginia struggled to get anything going with Kaelin out there vs. Wake Forest, a game they eventually lost. With a little more time to prepare, everyone will be hoping for better results if Kaelin does have to play.<\/p>\n

Looking at the whole team, UVA sits with an 8-2 record. They are right in the hectic mess that is the ACC Championship race, only holding one conference loss. A trip to Charlotte is certainly still possible, something they have done just once in 2019.<\/p>\n

Virginia might not be the first stop for Morris during his college football season but it will be his last. After starting out at\u00a0Oklahoma<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0TCU<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0North Texas<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0have also been considered home. Morris got the opportunity to play at the power conference level again in 2025 and chose UVA.<\/p>\n

The partnership has worked out with a great deal of success. Not a bad way for Morris to go out in his final season of eligibility.<\/p>\n

Two games remain on the Virginia schedule, beginning with the trip to Durham to face off against Duke. A bye week then takes place before hosting\u00a0Virginia Tech<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in a massive rivalry game.
