Beckloff ruled to strike most of the 27-year-old musician\u2019s complaint on Monday citing California\u2019s anti-SLAPP statute, <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/paris-jackson-petition-against-dad-michael-jackson-estate-struck-by-judge-11848597\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">per People<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The statute was created in response to the \u201cmany lawsuits brought primarily to chill the valid exercise of the constitutional rights of freedom of speech and petition for the redress of grievances\u201d through \u201cabuse of the judicial process,\u201d per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casp.net\/california-anti-slapp-first-amendment-law-resources\/statutes\/c-c-p-section-425-16\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the California Anti-SLAPP project<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Only a small piece of Paris\u2019 complaint remains in contention. POOL\/AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis order is limited to minor procedural issues and does not change the facts: the pattern of behavior displayed by the executors and their attorneys raises significant red flags, and Paris will continue working to ensure her family is treated fairly. We will be submitting an updated filing shortly,\u201d Paris\u2019 spokesperson told us Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Paris filed her petition against her father\u2019s estate in June, claiming that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/paris-jackson-questions-payouts-made-by-father-michael-jackson-estate-11770577\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">she was \u201cconcerned\u201d regarding payments being made by her father\u2019s estate<\/a>, according to People.<\/p>\n<p>In the court documents, Paris claimed executor John Branca and John McClain made unapproved \u201cbonus\u201d payments to certain law firms each year, claiming that the executors\u2019 requested approval for $625,000 in payments to three law firms back in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese payments appear, at least in part, to consist of lavish gratuities bestowed upon already well-compensated counsel,\u201d the court docs claimed in part.<\/p>\n<p>Paris filed her petition against the estate executors in June, complaining of unapproved \u201cbonus\u201d payments being made.
