{"id":378132,"date":"2025-11-14T10:44:17","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T10:44:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/378132\/"},"modified":"2025-11-14T10:44:17","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T10:44:17","slug":"south-alabama-medical-center-begins-81-million-expansion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/378132\/","title":{"rendered":"South Alabama medical center begins $81 million expansion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"WAKJ7FINXJG2BKBPNDQ6G3WHB4\">Work is beginning on an $81 million expansion of a hospital in Dothan. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"DWTHTWP63FGMVMENUKZS5QOEJ4\">Birmingham contractor Robins &amp; Morton is the general contractor for Southeast Health Medical Center\u2019s expansion of its emergency department and bed tower. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"VYXDDQMGUJGVHMQ63OCYVZC5SQ\">The project is scheduled to be completed in 2028. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"62K2U23DSNE5DNRZADCZIFVASQ\">Goodwyn Mills Cawood is the architect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2ROYQIZUXBFULFLWWI7WEFYEVY\">The project has four phases, which include adding 22,693 square feet to the emergency department and renovating 23,990 existing square feet. Two patient floors with 52 new inpatient beds will be added above the emergency department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"WLHNOUQGZBEOTIC5BYDT27QXYQ\">Upon completion, treatment spaces will be able to accommodate up to 75,000 visits annually. The medical center will also add a CT scanner and a safe treatment area for behavioral health patients.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"4OGGXS5RMFEB3GKQDQYAYPTYEY\">In addition, revamped waiting and seating areas will add natural daylight. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5U25VCLSK5HQZIB5J5FSU7ARWQ\">ED Medical Director Foy G. Mann said the medical center emergency room currently treats about 60,000 patients a year, with that number expected to grow. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"YYETJPJT5NCOXHSTYYG5WVDU7Y\">\u201cThis expansion allows us to keep pace with the increasing demand for emergency services,\u201d Mann said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BKDQA4Y3XRG7BHNOBAIDKPUVUQ\">The medical center is Houston County\u2019s largest employer, with more than 3,400 employees.
