PHOENIX \u2014 A man was arrested on Thursday in connection with a homicide that occurred in June in the West Valley, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The Surprise Police Department identified 27-year-old Nathan Sobarzo as the man taken into custody.<\/p>\n

According to police, Sobarzo was arrested after his release from prison on unrelated charges and faces a charge of second-degree murder.<\/p>\n

Details on June homicide in West Valley<\/p>\n

On June 11, 53-year-old Sean Hernandez was found dead in the front yard of a home near Bell and Dysart roads<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Police said that Sobarzo was arrested on unrelated robbery charges at the time of the incident, but added that during the investigation it was learned the Sobarzo lived at the home and was Hernandez\u2019s cousin.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, investigators received new DNA results that linked Sobarzo to the death of Hernandez, according to Surprise police.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis arrest is the result of diligent, coordinated police work and strong community partnerships,\u201d Surprise Chief of Police Evan Becher said in a press release. \u201cThrough service, integrity and an unwavering commitment to justice, the Surprise Police Department remains focused on bringing closure to victims and ensuring the safety of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
