{"id":379007,"date":"2025-11-14T19:29:12","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T19:29:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/379007\/"},"modified":"2025-11-14T19:29:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T19:29:12","slug":"man-suspected-of-fatally-beating-nyc-super-released-without-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/379007\/","title":{"rendered":"Man suspected of fatally beating NYC super released without charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The man initially suspected of fatally beating a Brooklyn building super during a scuffle has been released without charges, cops said Friday \u2013 as sources revealed the allege assailant was not a porch pirate after all.<\/p>\n<p>The late superintendent also may have suffered from pre-existing heart issues that played a role in his death, law-enforcement sources said.<\/p>\n<p>Building worker Burim Havolli, 41 \u2013 a Kosovo war refugee who had been watching over the Ditmas Park site for 15 years \u2013 died during a dust-up with a 30-year-old man who allegedly bashed him with a phone multiple times Wednesday morning, cops and sources said.<\/p>\n<p>Burim Havolli, a Kosovo war refugee and married dad of three young kids, died at the hospital after the mayhem, cops said. facebook\/Burim Havolli<\/p>\n<p>But sources revealed Friday that the fight between the two men was mostly verbal \u2013 and though Havolli was struck with the phone, the blows did not draw blood.<\/p>\n<p>Sources and neighbors initially said the younger man was allegedly attempting to steal a tenant\u2019s package \u2013 as the building has recently been plagued by such thefts and outside troublemakers.<\/p>\n<p>But sources said Friday he was not trying to swipe any packages after all.<\/p>\n<p>Both Havolli and the younger man called 911 after the fracas, sources said.<\/p>\n<p>Havolli, a married dad of three young kids, was rushed to the Kings County Hospital Center, where he died, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The man questioned in the beating death of a Ditmas park building super was released without charges after the known facts changed, cops said.
