Paramount+ has announced that a popular series will soon come to an end. <\/p>\n
The upcoming second season of \u201cTales of the Teenage Mutant Nina Turtles\u201d will be its last. The new episodes are slated to premiere in December, although an exact release date has not been announced.<\/p>\n
\u201cTales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles\u201d premiered in August 2024. The animated series is a spinoff of the 2023 film \u201cMutant Mayhem.\u201d The voice cast includes Micah Abbey (Donatello), Shamon Brown Jr. (Michelangelo), Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo), Brady Noon (Raphael) and Ayo Edebiri (April O\u2019Neil).<\/p>\n
Paramount+ announced the cancelations of \u201cTales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles\u201d and the animated series \u201cDora\u201d at the same time. A premiere date for the upcoming fourth season of \u201cDora\u201d has not been confirmed. Season 5 has also been produced, but it\u2019s unclear if the final season will air on Paramount+.<\/p>\n
According to Deadline<\/a>, Paramount is exploring third-party licensing opportunities for both \u201cNinja Turtles\u201d and \u201cDora,\u201d meaning they could eventually end up on a platform like Netflix. <\/p>\n The cancelations come after a major round of Paramount layoffs last month. In an recent internal memo obtained by Deadline<\/a>, Paramount\u2019s chair of TV Media, George Cheeks, said the company\u2019s \u201ccable brands\u201d will begin focusing on \u201ca more curated slate\u201d to \u201camplify what resonates most\u201d with viewers. <\/p>\n READ MORE: <\/b>Critically-acclaimed comedy series canceled after 2 seasons<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThat means leaning into franchises like SpongeBob, PAW Patrol, RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race, South Park<\/a>, Ms. Pat and The Daily Show, while continuing to develop new IP across our studios and seeking new ways to amplify and connect with audiences,\u201d Cheeks explained. <\/p>\n \u201cTales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles\u201d and \u201cDora\u201d are both Nickelodeon Animation Studio productions, which is owned by Paramount Skydance.<\/p>\n While Cheeks didn\u2019t include \u201cNinja Turtles\u201d or \u201cDora\u201d in his list of priorities, the brands are both Nickelodeon staples. Nickelodeon acquired the global rights to the \u201cTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles\u201d franchise in 2009, and \u201cDora the Explorer\u201d has been a Nickelodeon show from the start.
