The spokesperson compared the ship to a tall crane that would prevent an incoming plane from landing.<\/p>\n<p>Chopper 3 was over the Delaware River, showing a large ship in the river near the airport.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/phl-airport-ship.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"phl-airport-ship.jpg \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                CBS News Philadelphia<\/p>\n<p>A ground stop was issued until around 5:30 p.m. Friday and was lifted shortly after. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The ground stop did not impact departures from PHL, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson said a tugboat arrived at the scene and helped move the ship up the river.<\/p>\n<p>The airport said ships this size move along the Delaware regularly and can sometimes close a runway for a short period.
