Apple<\/p>\n<p>An iPhone will authenticate the data using the chip embedded on the back of a passport. Apple<\/p>\n<p>The company warned that Digital ID doesn\u2019t replace a physical passport and can\u2019t be used for international travel and crossing borders.<\/p>\n<p>Apple already allowed people in 12 states and Puerto Rico to add their <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/03\/23\/apple-lobbied-ny-officials-in-push-for-digital-drivers-licenses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">driver\u2019s license <\/a>or state ID to Apple Wallet, while TSA already accepts some form of a digital ID in at least 16 states and Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can breeze through more than 250 TSA checkpoints faster and more securely than ever before,\u201d the agency\u2019s website says.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a guide on how to add your passport:<\/p>\n<p>Setup<\/p>\n<p>Open your <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/06\/11\/business\/apple-pay-adding-more-payment-options-expanding-to-windows-chrome-users\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iPhone\u2019s Wallet app<\/a>, tap the plus sign at the top and then tap the Digital ID option on the menu. <\/p>\n<p>If that doesn\u2019t work for you, type in \u201cDigital ID\u201d into the app\u2019s search bar.<\/p>\n<p>Grab your passport and follow the instructions. You\u2019ll have to use the camera to scan your passport\u2019s photo page. <\/p>\n<p>Digital ID acceptance \u201cwill roll out first in beta\u201d at Transportation Security Administration checkpoints at over 250 U.S. airports.
